Pool Table Info/Identification

I'm looking for help with identification and information about this 8-ft. Brunswick table and wondering if it is worth the $925 that the seller is asking. The nameplate says "Authentic Brunswick" but I don't know anything more about it. Does anyone know the model (it doesn't appear on the Brunswick website) and any other info that would inform a decision to purchase?

Generic Asian home table sold by B'wick. i've seen these sell for as little as 400bux. decent game room table.

How serious of a player are you?

Are you looking for a 'fancy' looking table or a good table?

Are you prepared to spend the 925 plus the additional moving and setup fees?

For a few hundred more and some time looking you can probably find a good crown. The gold crown won't look like 'furniture', but it will be a better playing table.

If your table is going to end up holding laundry, then whatever you like the look of will do the job.

I actually love the look of a Gold Crown and don’t really like the “furniture” tables, but the chance of finding a GC in the Kansas City area (especially 8-ft.) is about zero. There is one in my area and they want $3K and another one (too far away for most of our movers) and they are asking $5200. Both are out of my price range. I would really like a black Diamond Pro, but it is also a very low probability. Unfortunately around here you see a lot of furniture tables, mostly off brands.

I had a Brunswick furniture table similar to that one for maybe, 14 years. After a while, the rubber on the rails turned hard as a rock. It was like trying to bank a ball of of a 2 x 4 piece of lumber. Definitely needed to have the rubber replaced. I'd be suspicious of that one, too, so check it carefully.

I gave my table away (to a friend of a friend), and explained the situation. They wanted it anyway. I was just glad to get it out of the house, at no cost to me. I actually thought about putting the wood in the fireplace.

Edit: BTW, I understand the Gold Crown situation. Up in the Northeast, they are a dime a dozen. But here in Texas, they are not as common, and finding a good one can take some shopping around. I did find a good one (here on the forum), though. It was a little pricy, but the rails had already been rebuilt by RKC. An 8 footer will be tough to find, but it might happen. Good luck.

Nice decorator piece for someone who just wants a table in the house. Not for even a semi serious player. It is a lot of work and often expensive moving and setting up a table. They also last a long time. I have a gold crown I bought in the 70s that is as good as it was when I bought it. Don't short change yourself, get something good, you won't regret t.

I really appreciate all of the advice. Assuming I won’t live long enough to find an 8-ft. Gold Crown in my area, what are the best ways to quickly check a table for serious issues? Should I consider a new Olhausen rather than a used table?

From how nice the room looks, the fact the table is covered, it is not likely that it would have any issues. I don't think I would pay $1,000 for a table like that but if that is all you can get, would cost you about $600 to get it recovered and setup after moving. New furniture table IMHO is a waste of money unless you are decorating the house and not playing pool LOL

FYI: Well, I hesitated and didn't end up with the table. It apparently sold for about $500, which I think was probably a great deal. The local table movers have told me that there is virtually no chance that I will ever find a Gold Crown in the 8-ft. size in this area unless I'm willing to buy a new one (which I can't), so we are now considering just furnishing the space we had considered for a pool table. Thanks for all of the feedback!
