any benefit to switching from Mezz Ignite to conical shaft for open handed bridge player?

is this idea worth considering? currently using a 30" ignite with kamui black (best tip ever imo)

i rarely used a closed bridge nowadays

seeing a lot of pros with the thinner straighter shaft

I suppose I could just try it but I have found in the past when I switch there is a very long adjustment period for me and then equally so on the flip side if i switch back

would move to a cuetec carbon 11.8

Not worth considering. People play at a pro level using all sorts of equipment. Unless you just absolutely have to settle your curiosity of other equipment, just keep using what you have.

I'd wager most of us don't have the discipline to just keep with one thing. That's why I have so much equipment 😂

Going from an Ignite to a Cuetec IMHO would be a pretty large downgrade. The Cuetec plays more like a standard whippy maple shaft, the Ignite has a stiffer hit with quite a bit less deflection than the Cuetec. It's also not a conical taper but a normal "pro taper" "• Super-Slim 9.6 inch elongated pro taper"

If you want to try another shaft, I would try the Revo or the OB Carb, they have closer playing and hit feel characteristics as the Ignite, with less deflection, unless you actually want to go the other way to more deflection and more flex in the shaft, then the Cuetec is OK to try.

If you do switch to another shaft I might be interested in your 30 inch Ignite. What joint does it fit??
Love to hear your thoughts on the Ignite either way. I have one in my future one way or another...

I went the other way around: Cuetec 11.8mm Cynergy shaft on my united joint mezzes, currently playing with a Mezz CP21 w/ Ignite Shaft. Same tip on both. What @hang-the-9 says is right: I found the cuetec to be rather whippy on a lot of stronger strokes. It's not meucci whippy, but there is some whip to it. I figure it's expected to a degree when using a long slim pro taper with a smaller diameter.

The mezz feels really stiff in comparison (it is 12.2), and I really enjoy it. I still have a lot to work on in terms of my stroke/power control with CF shafts, But I'm liking the mezz more than my experience with the 11.8 Cynergy. Also I believe the only conical CF shaft that I know of is the Revo 11.8. Others may be able to speak about that as I've hadn't had much experience with any of the revos beyond a few test hits on friends' cues.

the Mezz is a keeper, will hang on to this shaft for a while, my favourite shaft thus far, stiff with just the right amount of flex

second best shaft for me was the cynergy 12.5

that shaft for me was close enough to the Mezz that I would take the cynergy with upgraded tip over mezz with stock tip

Thanks for the review. What is it that makes the Mezz just a bit better than the cynergy in your opinion?

I ask because of your experience with both and they are both from companies with a long history in the pool industry..
