The turning point was when Earl overplayed position on the seven ball, leading 3-1. If he plays short position (no scratch possible) and gets out it’s 4-1.

Earl falling apart

Can anyone say that they are surprised? For a man in his 60s at this point of his career, he should never have been put in this position, playing against top pro players in their 20s and 30s.

It will be very hard for Earl to recover from this one and turn it around in his upcoming matches. This match comeback by Shaw over Earl may likely prove to be the turning point for the Cup, unless we are able to split the final 4 matches today.

Earl seems like a rational, level headed person so I’m sure this is the course he’ll take…
