Dynasphere Bronze balls......$100

Ordered a set of the bronze from Amazon.
They look great.
After hitting about three racks worth I noticed a scuff on the 2 ball. I spent a couple minutes polishing it and the scuff did not come off. I hit with the balls perhaps another half hour. I noticed some black spots on the balls
- probably from the leather pockets being new. I then inspected the plain cue ball and found several scuff marks. These marks felt rough and had no shine to them even after hand polishing. The set came with a polishing cloth but it had no effect on the flat finish scuff marks.
I've owned centennials for probably 15 years that did not do this, nor did i notice these marks on the cyclops balls I had on my last table.
30 minutes was enough time for me to know they are going back.
I guess I'll buy a new set of centennials. I'm trying to avoid giving aramith any money after what they did to the 5 ball. I know it's not all their sets. It still tarnished their rep in my eyes.
Any other quality options out there other than the centennials?
What kind table do you have?

I tried to take some last night but my phone camera sucks. They are boxed up and ready to go now.
I bet. Must be some rough pocket irons and u have Caveman strength when your power stroking balls to achieve pocket speed

I own these, as I've stated previously, and never had any issues. I just ordered another set today.
A friend plays in a Phoenix poolroom that has had these in play for a couple yrs. They get a lot of use/abuse. Zero issues. I take these stories with a grain of salt.

Yeah, I trust @rexus31 when it comes to these things. He's been an proponent of the Bronze set since he used it and did his measurements. That's what sold me on it and I was not disappointed at all. I use them everyday over some Aramiths (personal preference, Aramith is great too).

New Diamond ProAm. Black marks are from the leather I'm sure. The scuffs? No idea but my centennials don't have them.

Many pockets have rivets connecting the leather to the rubber plastic pocket liner. Those rivets will scuff and scratch any ball out there, it doesn't matter which brand it is. Also, many pocket liners are attached to the table frame with finishing nails which can also cause scratches and scuffs on pool balls.

Tried again to take pics. Lights, no light, flash, no flash, sunlight... no dice.
Ran the balls through the polisher for 10 mins and scuffs are still there.

There are no nails inside the pockets I can see.
Happens on the CB anyway, which doesn't go in the drink often.

Soooo I grabbed an old, nearly mint red circle and hit a few power draw shots.
I was testing a tip last night and hitting many firm shots to see what action I was getting.
This was done with the bronze set.
After several shots with the red circle today I can see very similar scuff marks on this CB as well.
After rigorous hand polishing, I can get maybe 70-80% of the scuff off the ball.
Doing the same with the plain CB that came with the bronze, I can get maybe 50% of the scuff off.

So perhaps I was mistaken about the balls.
I'm using a Tiger Sniper and predator chalk.
The CB did not go off the cloth so it must be caused by the tip/chalk.
It's possible my other ball sets were used enough I never noticed what was happening.

Anyone else experience this?

Next time I have the chance to hit, I"ll switch it up to blue diamond chalk.
Can't explain it.

I use a Tiger Onyx quite often and Taom Pyro and do not experience this. Really strange. Hope you figure it out and don’t give up on the bronze set, it’s the best value out there.

Edit - I also have a 9’ Diamond, but mine is the Professional, not ProAm.

If it was tip/chalk, how are the object balls getting scuff marks? Odd.

I likewise have had Dynaspheres for a year or more with no issues. And I don't take good care of them. My cue ball will get marred from using a phenolic tip on my jump and break cues. Or from terrible masse miscues with a regular leather tip. It's possible that your new Dynaspheres are more shiny than your Centennialls and that's why you're are seeing pocket marks on the new balls.

I suggest you email Dynasphere to see what they say.

I have a set of Tungsten (Art Deco pastel colors very cool) and Palladium (Standard colors with a cool rotor pattern) Both sets are absolutely amazing. The Tungstens, at the time I bought them, were the least expensive set available, and I got them for about $75.00. The Palladiums retail for about $350.00 and I can not tell ANY difference in finish, playability, or how long they stay clean. Everything Dynaspheres makes is absolutely top notch.

The ONLY reason I didn't buy the "Bronze" set is that I already have several standard color sets of different brands but if I were in the market for a standard set, Bronze are the best value on earth.

Rats, that's a good question.
Not sure if I did any drills with those balls.
Some require the OBs to be struck as the CB.
I think you have a problem with one of your pockets. Go around and carefully inspect them again. It might be very obscure. Something is wrong there. Balls just don't spontaneously scuff. Not good ones anyway

Thanks for your suggestions.
The pockets have a new, undamaged curtain of leather from top to bottom.
Yesterday I lined up on the red circle of the ball that is in excellent condition and hit a hard draw shot.
There was a scuff mark right where the tip struck the CB.
I've ruled out the balls.
I don't know what else to try but I will swap chalk for the first test.
I've just been too busy to get to the table since then.

I recall someone on AzB getting mystery marks on their balls and it would up being a screw head in the ball return track on their Diamond table.
