I used to be a fairly decent player. I haven't been playing seriously for probably 8 to 10 years since diamond eight billiards closed down. I do have a 8' Gold Crown III table in the basement. I play with friends and family and have been shooting left handed to even the plsying field. I am looking for drill/practice routines to start to regain what I used to have. Anyone have any ideas.

There’s all kinds of drills you can come up with that are fun and challenging.

I love to set out 7-8 balls evenly across each headstring on both ends of table, with cue ball in dead center, and pocket balls in any order, alternating from a ball on one end to a ball on the other end. You can’t miss and you can’t run in to another ball or you have to line them all back up and start over.

A harder one - line 6-7 balls up 4-5 inches apart from the middle of the end cushion up just past the headspot and footspot on both ends - no balls in middle portion of table. Start with cue ball in dead center and do the same - alternate making a ball on one end to other end, trying to run out all 12 or 14 balls without missing and without running in to another ball - not so easy!

If you have nothing better, rack up some number of balls, break them and run in rotation. If the outcome of the shot(cue or object ball) surprises you, you have an opportunity stop and learn something.

Last time I heard of an 8'GC.
Sportsmans in New Orleans.
Where I first ran into Mary Kenniston 70's, she was travelin' with NY Blackie.
