GC 2 vs other years

Thank you both very much for the advice. Superspeed is the way I will go. I also want the pockets as tight as possible.

Don't go tighter than 4.25. You'll regret it. Even that is pretty damn snug. If you have non-serious friends that play they won't make a ball.

If you do decide to go the subrail modification route and extend the rails, pay the $$$. It's worth every penny.

And Superspeed is the way to go. After a few years if playing on a Superspeed GC4, it plays very close to a Blue Label, imo. No issues switching between the two tables at all.
How does an Artemis table play differently? I had all the stuff done on my GCI, sub-rail angles, sub-rail extensions to tighten pockets to 4 1/2", etc but went with Artemis instead of Superspeeds because that's what everyone was using and recommending at the time. Now everyone changed their minds and Superspeeds are the choice cushion. I play on several 9' Diamonds, blue labels, and as far as I can tell they play extremely similar to my GCI. Now I am wondering if I should swap to Superspeeds when I recover the table shortly.

I went 4.125 and man is it nice. Tough for some that come over but it's how I want it lol.

Balls hang more on a Diamond. And they turn on twisting straight backs a little easier. You can turn them on any table but a Blue Label grabs it more.

For the record, both tables play phenomenal when done right.

Mine actually came out to 4 3/8" but I am ok with it, I certainly would not want it tighter though. I would especially be concerned because I think it would change your shot selection too much vs a 4 1/2" table, what I play on besides my home table. If I was a big 1 pocket player I would probably like tighter pockets, after I got good anyway. Most balls hang or rattle on Diamonds when clipping the long rail on the way in.

Personally, as long as the work is done right, I think you will like either Artemis or Superspeeds. The deciding factor may just be cost.

I have Artemis on mine, but it is hard to compare them to Superspeeds on the same table because I never had them.

I am also in an area dominated with bar boxes. Big table pool is dead here.

Its probably the same by you then that when you do find a big table nobody else wants to play on it. I have had fellow pool players flat out refuse to shoot on my table because at 9' its "too big".

Quite a few people here turn down invites to play at the house because of the same reason....table too big or holes too small, can't please'm all 😂.

the cushion has a "belly" rather than the hump on top, therefore you can twist a ball out of the artemis cushion differently than you can with a superspeed. It really only matters in one pocket IMO. Because of this the 9' diamond with deep shelf * 4.25" pockets, is the best one pocket table IMO.
