G10 Pins - what are the advantages, other than the obvious almost 1oz weight reduction

They can break before the forearm or shaft does, saving a much more expensive repair.
They glue very securely, not much worry about it ever coming lose or squeaking.
 
Allows the cue to flex at the joint more like natural wood. It is the closest thing to the feel of no joint besides wood thread joints.

Maybe. I've had sneakies made with 5/16x18 Meucci-style joint and a G10 and i couldn't tell much difference in how they hit.
 
Weight, easy to remove if they break.
They can be quite abrasive to the shaft threads, so you may want to consider using an insert of some kind. Buffing the pins ever so slightly on a soft wheel with some Menzerna P126 or similar does help.
