Just my opinion. If you are getting dramatic colors like ebony / tulipwood, you dont want to overwhelm with vibrant veneers, but more subtle ones.
If you are getting ebony on ebony however, then getting vibrant veneers are appropriate.
The same goes for inlays. If the wood has great figure, dont overload the cue with inlays. The wood is the design. If the wood pretty monotone, then maybe simple inlays help.
