Viking Window Cue ID

Esscot Custom Cues
In the Blue Book of cues there are 3 Viking window cues fitting the description. All are described the same with the blue pearl butt. The difference in the discription is with the wood of the forearm. One is Cordia, one is Rosewood, and the other is Bocote. I don’t know if the wrap color was optional, but the image of the Cordia one is obviously two toned and the other two appear to be just black. I don’t know if that can be used to ID. Hoping some one knows or can tell by the wood in my pictures.

The other question is the shaft. It has a black dot near the joint end. The dark shaft color is interesting. It looks more like a stain than torrefied though, but I’m no expert (which is why I’m here)

Interesting... I used to sell Vikings and can't say I've ever seen one of their shafts that looked like that. Hard to tell in the pic but the fitment makes me think maybe the shaft collar was installed on a different shaft? It does look stained though so could be original.

Thanks for the feedback. Have you seen their shaft with this black dot?

Still hoping someone can identify the wood/version of the butt end.

No, I've never seen the dot. I think Meucci had a black dot shaft. You could Google and see if the dot's the same. Maybe they put the collar on one of those.

Thought of that, but all of the black dot shafts I saw from Meucci had a black circle, not an inlayed dot.

I'm no woodworker, but to me that looks like the natural wood color. Grain is not like a shaft maple wood and how the color is, just does not look like it was stained, at least not much. Never seen an older cue with a shaft like that, seems like someone did something like a prupleheart shaft but with another wood. There seems to be a decent lip on the shaft to the rings, maybe it was swapped for the stock shaft by someone.

After talking to Geordies daughter she thinks the ring work was reused on a replacement shaft. Based on that, the dot and ferrule length Im thinking it is a stained Meucci shaft.

It looks to me like the joint was re shafted and the cuemaker put a mechanics mark on it. I suspect the stain swelled the wood thus the poor fit at the ring.
