Pool Room Customers That Return Tray of Pool Balls in Sequence - Why?

On a normal Sunday evening with nothing going on except me enjoying International Jazz Day (shameless plug for my favorite streaming channel: cooljazzflorida.com), me crying in my vodka martini, I’d view this thread with disdain, but I played so F-ing poorly today, this thread is friggin’ awesome.

Thanks for the levity so I don’t take myself or my lack of skill so seriously. No, really!!
I made some good shots... blew some easy runouts today...however listened to Cannonball's Bossa Nova (with Sergio Mendez) the cut ...O Amor Em Paz (Once I Loved) and the day got smoothened out. My other Fave on that album is Corcovado (Quiet Nights). Great jazz makes up for a scratch or dogged shot.

How do you guys feel about Reggae? Kidding. If I ever have any of you stuck, (extremely unlikely on so many levels) put on some whiny repetitious reggae.

…meanwhile in the Ukraine 25 people were killed by Russian soldiers in a small village on the Ukraine/Russian border. Who give a flying “f” how the balls are returned?

Yes, I know there has been a lack of interesting threads on this forum of late and this certainly doesn’t help change that. I’ve always been amazed by the number of our customers who return their tray of balls to us placed in perfect sequence, 1 through 15, with the cue ball being placed either before the 1-ball or after the 15-ball.

I would estimate that number somewhere between 10%-20% of all our customers. Just curious how many of you guys do that and if so, why?
Better than the ones that leave them at the table. Or the ones that take a 4 ball because purple is their favorite color.

One last question on this: why do some people return the balls with chalk cubes nestled down between them? Do they think they'll have to pay more if they don't? Do some rooms hand-out the balls like this? Inquiring minds gotta know. ;)

Maybe cough drops should be there instead of chalk cubes. If the tray catches a cold it won’t cough it’s balls off

Left to right as well. Also pairs like 16, 02 and 15, 01 (18+16)
and 13, 08 and 09, 04 (21+13) going the other way and other similar pairs.
Ok done.
And diagonals.

And the four balls in each corner and the four balls in the middle 😱

Thanks for pointing this out guys. Gotta hit the books on this one. lol...

I do return mine in sequential order but I have the habit of returning them in the ball tray but the tray is upside down.

It’s really much harder than one would think.
Yes, we’ve had customers do that as well. It’s extremely hard to balance them without them falling out of the tray.

If I listed the number of strange things I’ve seen some customers do here before, during, or after they play over the past 27 years, it would be a long one!
