I thought I did, what did I miss?? It says there is no spotting, if incoming player doesn't have balls outside of kitchen too bad, so sad.I take it you didn’t read the rule set closely.

it was designed for GAMBLING. its like pool's version of craps. the intention was to have a fast moving action game not to prove who was the best player although the best player wins 99% of the time. nothing dumb about it.9 ball is a dumb game though , no other game in billiards can you pocket the win ball before its turn, nor win on a single stroke .
The fact that I wrote, “too bad, so sad” as well as everything else I wrote in the ruleset should be enough. The ruleset is a parody. To call it a bad ruleset … it’s like having to explain a dad joke.I thought I did, what did I miss?? WTF?? Go play a good player at it. Better player wins almost every time. At higher levels there's not that much luck involved. I hear this all the time from league 8b players that can't move their rock well. They get beat not from luck but because of lack of skill. It's a gambling game that is fast paced and gives the less skilled players a chance to win.
Low skill game for lower skilled players.
Over the long haul you are correct, but a lesser skilled player (than the others) can sometimes get lucky in ring games, if they get some fortunate rolls and they don’t get too greedy and get in/out at the right time, not unlike a poker game.WTF?? But the thing is this is some bangers actually play by rule sets shockingly similar. That's like the "no safety" rules, if I'm on the 8 with the 8 in the kitchen would it not be considered a safe to intentionally pocket the cue ball? For some reason the bangers don't consider that a safety but if I miss and hook my opponent they think I'm playing safe. The fact that I wrote, “too bad, so sad” as well as everything else I wrote in the ruleset should be enough. <~~~ the yardstick company isn’t make them any longer
Yes, I know bangers play by rules like this. It’s all part of the parody. And it’s all part of this thread’s complaint. But the thing is this is some bangers actually play by rule sets shockingly similar. That rule does my head in, but not as much as "no back-table while in the D".In UK pool a big, simple difference is 'do you get 2 shots on the black?'. Some places you will. Some you won't.
The most ridiculous rule is having to call the ball going in "clean" or not. When I first heard it I thought they meant not hitting another ball, what they meant is that you had to call the rail or facing if the ball was going to contact it. They really wanted to get their money's worth out of those games.Yes, I know bangers play by rules like this. It’s all part of the parody. And it’s all part of this thread’s complaint.
Read my ruleset and just laugh about it, please. Give me feedback on what other ridiculous bar rule variances you’ve encountered.
It galls me to have to play barbox rules on full-sized pro equipment, but since that is how the locals learned (only rules/game they know)……..But the thing is this is some bangers actually play by rule sets shockingly similar. I’ve always felt that way about the ‘heads up’ pro game. I think it would be better entertainment if 5&9 ring game rules applied (game only ends when all the balls are pocketed). Instead of the # of racks won in a set, it would be total points scored over a prescribed # of games. That way, more than two players could compete in the same game simultaneously.9 ball is a dumb game though , no other game in billiards can you pocket the win ball before its turn, nor win on a single stroke .
I don't read the rules per se. Having knocked 'em around since I was a tweeny - prolly earlier if you're counting, I got the built in ruleset and the pool sense that develops as you learn the game. Course, technicalities come up that require detailing but I'll still filter them by relevance or stupidity. As we see around here , many people will argue a rule without ever having read it.
I don't have a lot of Billiards experience, but I'm a decent player, and I think this is a foolish comment. I say foolish because nine ball takes a lot of defensive skill to be successful at. If you don't think defense, 9 ball probably isn't for you. If you like to include defense in a Billiards game, which is just as important as offense, it's an excellent game. It's a gambling game that is fast paced and gives the less skilled players a chance to win.

I think he’s referring to the ring game aspect of it rather than a blanket statement about 9-ball being a low skill game.I don't have a lot of Billiards experience, but I'm a decent player, and I think this is a foolish comment. Kinda funny you put it like that.there are pool room rules and barroom rules. play as they play or go to the pool room. where most of you cant beat anyone that will bet 5 dollars there.
