Table size?

If you had the choice of two tables a 9' and a 10' of the same quality. Which would you pick considering you had plenty of room for either.

10 foot
would make everything else seem like a bar box

Don't mean to hijack your thread. I'm kind of in the same dilemma. I have a 9' Gold crown 1 and a 5x10 Gold Crown 3 Snooker table. Can't decide which one to set up. Wish I had the room to set up both, but I dont. My parents have and old Steepleton 5x10 snooker table that I grew up playing on, but I think my kids and friends would maybe enjoy the 9' better. Dont have to keep score and pockets are bigger.

I'm 5'6" no way am I picking a 10 footer, I have issues with reaching quite a few shots on a 9 footer.
If anything, I would have both, if only one, a 9 footer.

I sometimes play on Buffalo's 10' with 4 1/4 corners. That table plays great, and I beat some good players on that table. No way I'm buying a 10' table for the house, unless it's for 3C.

Why?

Tough call. I'd probably go with the 9' because it's standard equipment. On the other hand, you can probably find a 9' to play on pretty easily but finding a 10' is much harder.

I've never played on a 10' pool table so I don't know what it's like jumping back and forth between a 9 and a 10. I do think the "practice on what you play on" guys may have a point. I think an important consideration is who else will be playing on this table, will a 10' be too difficult?

I have a 9 foot GC, wouldn’t want anything larger or smaller. I don’t think I would gain anything, skill wise, with a 10 footer, friends think a 9 foot is huge, and rarely would you see a 10 foot table anywhere

10 ft for me. Less clusters. With that said ideally a 9 and a 7 would be perfect for me.

I was at the pool hall last night playing on a 9’ table and the amount of space I had on the table was insane. I play on a 7’ table at home because of space. Going by this I would choose the 9’ , but I understand the benefit of a 10’ table. But my stroke is good so I’m not missing shots because of table size.

My eyes are getting worse... a 10 foot table would set me back another 12"......... a 9' is starting to look like a football field.

If you purchase the 10' then decide you want the 9 er, you resale market is usually allot smaller for this Big of a table.
You'll need a minimum of 16.5 X 21' play area.

I'm going with a 9ft sometime this fall and will have plenty of space. I told our builder I don't want any support posts in the basement. He said no problem he'll span it with beams and going with 9ft ceiling so there will be plenty of height for the light.
I know it seems obvious but it's not!

- If you're going to add a bar later make sure it's stubbed in for water and drain
- stubbed for 220v or gas or both for future range, double oven, whatever
- switched outlet above where table light will go
- wired for sound system, security
- make sure you're on same page when you tell builder dimensions of the room you want.
My builder was measuring from outside walls to outside walls, and I was talking inside
'finished' space
- make sure you know where the plenums for your HVAC systems will run, don't want to
lower your ceiling around your game room by a foot if they run through there
- if you have open doorways from other rooms entering your game room do you want them
squared across the top or arched?
- if you have a sound system or theater room put them on their own 20 amp circuits
- add soundproofing, I like to crank the music a little in the wee hours of the morning while
the family sleeps

We're going with ICF from the footings to the roof and everything has to be planned right with anything that has to go through the walls. We're doing a 1450sq ft bungalow with a walkout basement and putting in heat pumps so no ductwork. The basement will have a small bathroom, utility room and a craft room and leaves plenty of room for a pool table, bar and possibly a shuffleboard. Our builder only does ICF and we've popped in to see the previous and the current one he's doing now to make sure he's doing it right lol
