Adding a 1/16" to the bottom is to unstable, need to remove a 1/4" of the foot print, then inlay back in 5/16" popular. Then cut the subrails off back to the finish of the rails, then reproduce the subrails again for pool, 2 1/4" balls. So what's the procedure to make them thicker? Apply 1/16" veneer to the underside?
Keep in mind, the snooker rails are longer, the pocket castings are smaller, as with the drop pockets, and the slate shelf is extremely deep.So what's the procedure to make them thicker? Apply 1/16" veneer to the underside?
I play with a smallish group of people in a 6 table room, we have one 5 x 10 snooker table and as much as some of us like it it just doesn't get much play. so it's been decided to switch it out or modify it for regular play. you did find a really good deal though, maybe there's a trade in there with a snooker player who has a 9 footer unless you have the room for 2 tables.Would it be better to preserve it as a snooker table, or convert it to pool so it gets used more? I'm assuming OP is in the US where snooker is not common. Then again, it would be nice to have a 10' table. It would be nice to have space for snooker and pool.
It's starting to sound like, with the cost to do the conversion properly, it would be better to find a snooker player that wants a GC and then buy another GC that is a pool table. Do we know if the table is 9' or 10'? For a 10' GC it might be worth it. Would the longer rails be easier to make tight pockets?Ke

It sounds like it is far more work to convert snooker rails to pool rails than it is to extend pool sub-rails for tight pockets and correct the sub-rail angle. It's starting to sound like, with the cost to do the conversion properly, it would be better to find a snooker player that wants a GC and then buy another GC that is a pool table. Only if you want it done right!!It sounds like it is far more work to convert snooker rails to pool rails than it is to extend pool sub-rails for tight pockets and correct the sub-rail angle.
Why waste money on a half assed job?? I think they call that "spending good money after bad money" when one does the half assed job then does it the right way the second time. If one cant afford to do it right the first time how can one afford to do it a second time??Only if you want it done right!!
Those cushion look more rounded like a snooker table and shouldn't there be more diamonds on the rail for a pool table? I'm thinking a Gold Crown snooker table. Still at 300 not a bad buy.I'd say it's a gold crown. I doubt they put scorers or ball boxes on a snooker table. I am supposed that it would have small drop pockets, tho.
Did you read the posts? It's already been determined it's a snooker table. Those cushion look more rounded like a snooker table and shouldn't there be more diamonds on the rail for a pool table? I'm thinking a Gold Crown snooker table. Still at 300 not a bad buy.
Here is a link to a GC snooker table for comparison.

I missread it then. SorryMy post was not questioning it. In fact it was supporting it being a snooker table because of the lack of box and scorers.
I missread it then. Sorry
That's a GC3 Snooker table, the table in discussion in this thread is a GC1 Snooker table, and 5'×10'.Those cushion look more rounded like a snooker table and shouldn't there be more diamonds on the rail for a pool table? I'm thinking a Gold Crown snooker table. Still at 300 not a bad buy.
