Has SVB given up on the long cue?
He no longer has an extension on his playing cue but looks as if his breaker still does.

Watched a good bit of this tourney. Here are my thoughts:
1) I think it's good for the sport when a guy outside the top 50 slays a couple guys in the 20 and takes it down, as was the case Jusczyszyn.
2) I personally like it better when that happens too; I almost always root for the underdog.
3) Such a Cinderella run is more possible with the alternating break format used here. I'm new and I'm guessing alternating break vs. winner breaks has probably been debated ad nauseam here, and in preferring alternating breaks I'm probably in the minority.
3a) I do note that most every other sport where only one team is in possession at a time either alternates possession (such as tennis with the serve, or netball with the center throw; baseball, curling) or the team just scored on gets the ball (American football and basketball). Teams where the winner gets to keep it is more rare; rugby union, volleyball with the serve, soccer....that's all I can think of), so that probably colors my opinion.

I agree with most of what you posted, and K J’s run was impressive. I was a little bit unhappy that SVB lost, after getting to 10-8. This is as an American fan, so it was disappointing. When K J took a flyer at that two ball, and missed it badly, he got stupid safe. SVB didn’t handle it well, almost seemed like he kind of gave up.

Yeah same here, with few exceptions, I root for Americans first, underdogs second.

I want to see loser breaks.
Alternate breaks definitely changes the flow. A guy can't run out the set on you, but if you don't win your break you may be looking at losing three in a row. I didn't watch any of this yet, I watched an event a couple of months ago and guys were getting a lot of tough layouts after the break, and a good bit of pushing out and safety play. Not as many break and runs, both players got a turn at the table in many racks.
Do you think tables that break tough make a Cinderella run more possible? If the table breaks nice and it's my day to break and run several racks, I just have to be better than what the table gives me, and make one less mistake than the other player. If the table breaks tough, then I have to beat my opponent's safeties. On the other hand, I get to come to the table in most racks.
I'd like to see more different formats, it might give the underdogs more chances to do well.
alternate breaks is needed for short races on tables with forgiving pockets, such as this and the eurotour etc. it has it's place. but with tougher equipment such as these MR promoted events i think the positives with winner breaks outweighs the negatives. don't forget soufi's cinderella run. also the peruvian tevez in the world 10-ball last year
