OB cues shut down?

View attachment 681618 Dang, I just ran out of popcorn!
Typical thread: Start on 1 subject then get switched to a pissing contest. OB closing, to shaft diameter, to Boomers, participation trophies, Mosconi, CF shafts ,custom cues. etc, etc, etc.
This thread reads like an old Network soap opera. Buncha old women that can't agree on anything.:D
As for me: ....... 13mm feels like a telephone pole in my grip. .5 does make a difference & I just enjoy playing; be it with a fat knarly house cue, or a silky smooth custom with bling.
Couldn't be as silky smooth as your avatar!

Maybe I can help us get back on track. I recently retrieved my OB Fusion shaft from my office which closed during COVID for renovations. For the last two years, I've been playing with a generic sneaky Pete, 13mm maple shaft. Now I'm transitioning back to my player, with the OB Fusion shaft. Today was only the second time back with the LD shaft. I didn't notice, but playing the maple cue, I'd developed a strong preference for follow. Back with the Fusion, I am equally happy stunning, following, or drawing. It is all just a lot less work.

Too bad about OB. They made a great product. The Fusion is my ideal. Looks traditional, but plays very modern.

how many balls can you run on a 7ft table with a ld shaft?
Deflect much?

I agree, it’s too bad about OB closing. I’m enjoying my carbon shaft so far.

So whatever became of Digicue Blue? Wasn’t that developed by OB Cues?

I thought it had real merit and potential but I never quite got behind the software
part of it. DB needed more development in the user interface but the concept was
really appealing. It seems like that device was hot and pretty quickly became not.
I developed this product myself and licensed it to OB Cues for manufacturing and sales. Though I did all of the engineering work, patents, trademarks, and certifications, (except for writing the app, Jeremiah did a good job with that), Shane did put a lot of effort into the marketing side of it. He even came up with the idea for the packaging. I own the project but it became a team effort for sure.

The chip shortage killed the current design because there are three or four parts now obsolete. I'm planning on making a new version with more features that were suggested by the community.

But in the meantime, I'm working on something even better...

I thought from the outset it had real merit and value but based upon how it worked, believed that to get maximum
benefit from the analyzed data you should use it with a training partner and video support. Even used alone, it still
had value & I was looking forward to seeing it develop and improve. Every player can improve their game with the
intelligent use of metrical data about their pool stroke. Best of luck with your next version and I hope it goes well.

I bought this product, and it needs a lot of work to make it "better."

i have one of the last custom OB's made before they closed(pictured in my avatar). I recently had a local cuemaker do some tip work, and he looked over the cue closely. He was very impressed with how well built the cue is. He said the finish is flawless, and he had to tell some of his other cuemaker friends about it. He said the signature ringwork OB does is difficult to do because it "rises" if you dont do it right. I had such a good experience from start to finish with OB. It sucks that they are gone, but im glad i have a gem of a cue from them.

I bought an OB Pro shaft @6yrs ago. Sadly one day it just warped between the tip and my Bridge position. It did that in 1 day. Honestly, I was never too much impressed with the Pro shaft. OB gave me a REVO Maple shaft as a replacement. Its a so-so shaft too.
I do own an OB-1 and an OB-2 shaft(s). I like the OB-2 much more than the Pro or REVO replacement.

Wasn't the OB-2 and the pro the exact shaft other than the ferrule?

Never could quite get my "straightness" working on the digicue blue.

I had the same thing with something that I am not sure about, I think it was "finishing" or something similar, keeping the cue going straight for a set amount of time. It seemed a bit excessive of a time to me to count as good.
