I thought maybe a little alcohol might not hurt. Have no idea....Just wait for the Aramith products. Do not ruin a good thing
Wait until you get the proper products. You don't want to contaminate the cleaning surfaces with products you aren't going to use. What kind of polisher did you make? What kind of balls do you have? Was rained out today so I decided to make a ball cleaner and see how it worked. Ordered aramith cleaner and restorer but won't be here for couple more days.
Anyone have any luck with any household products, just to try it out?
Looking forward to some suggestions....Thanks A
Some of us have had good success with 2 TBSP Aramith Ball Cleaner mixed with 8 ounces of 91% Isopropyl Alcohol applied is a spray bottle. Here's a short video showing my results.A local hall out west used to use windex. I have no idea what the long term effects of that will do to balls.
I used it a couple times with no issues and good results but I cannot, in good conscience, recommend it.
What kind of polisher did you make? Thanks Rexus
I have a set of Centennial balls that I upgraded to when I got my table about 3 months ago.
I didn't really like them at first they were so clean and I thought they sounded funny. First new set of balls I had ever used. I play at a minimum 25 games of 9/10 ball every night along with some drills if I have any problems with a certain shot that evening. So I would say atleast 750+ games on them. They sure don't look anything like the 11-15 do now.
I seen a pic of the one muskyed made and I made a smaller version of that in a couple hour build, with stuff laying around my shop (not as nice as muskyeds). If I like the results I will do something in a nice cabinet that matches my table with a lid on it this winter to stay in my pool room. This one is a osb one that will stay down in my shop. I am curious to see the results before I decide to take on something bigger. And I have 2 jobs at the moment running a family business and I raise a couple hundred head of Angus cattle. What kind of polisher did you make
Cool. What motor are you using?I seen a pic of the one muskyed made and I made a smaller version of that in a couple hour build, with stuff laying around my shop (not as nice as muskyeds). Right now a variable speed polisher, like the one in Ed s picCool. What motor are you using?
Interested. Considering alcohol will evaporate pretty quickly, how do the results compare to just the Aramith cleaner without the alcohol?I'm a little late to this thread, but my 2 cents worth is that I REALLY like the result of the 91% alcohol / 2 tbs of Aramith cleaner but I actually spray the mixture onto the balls WHILE THE MACHINE IS RUNNING! Seems to me that I get better coverage. That said, I also have a different type of machine (Clean Gleem) so it may make a little more sense than in a Diamond style polisher.
Rexus31 uses alcohol as well, look back at the video it is posted on the picture of it.Interested. Considering alcohol will evaporate pretty quickly, how do the results compare to just the Aramith cleaner without the alcohol?
The advantage will be that the balls get cleaner without the need for much of the cleaning product, which will eventually build up and reduce the effectiveness of the machine.Interested. That new stuff can be hard to adjust to.Thanks Rexus

I would like to have a professional looking one like Rexus as well, but your design inspired me to go down to the shop and build one with what was already there. I'm glad you posted pics of yours as well. ThanksWhile i like my polisher, and get fantastic results, you have to keep in mind i did it with stuff laying around, and it for less than $20 just to see if it would work. It actually works fantastic, but i would love to make a more professionsl looking one, something like the one by Rexus, but with a cherry finish top.
To be honest im somewhat ashamed of mine, even though it works fantastic. I did make an addition to it, and that was a hold down for the sprocket. Runs a lot smoother now.
Maybe someday I'll spend the money on a good motor and hole saw a star wheel, but for now mine works fantastic but is ugly. It was just something to do in the shop one day when i was bored
