Traveling Cue........My version

What do you use for a case for something like that?
I have two made by John Barton. No issues for JBCases. See the other travel cue thread for photos.

I've been meaning to build one for several years. I finally got around to creating my version. I just wasn't pleased with the aesthetics of the ones I have seen made. The measurements are weird and don't jive well with traditional style cues, but this is my solution if you wanna call it that..lol This cue style seems to be a popular topic as of late on here!

I built this as a prototype for me to play with. The cue isn't completed still inlays and finish to be done, but can be played with and I have. I will say it's as solid and plays as well as any of the other cues I've built. I used Alves, Ebony and will have some mop or abalone inlays as well as gold acrylic accent rings. Shaft section has a phenolic insert..3/8-10 mod pins

Any questions or comments let me know. Thanks, Dave

Specs

Butt 19"
Mid 19"
Shaft 20"
Total 58"

These look spectacular.

Is so stupid our government / TSA does not allow 2 piece pool cues to be carried on but walking canes, ice / sharp hokey skates and skate boards are all allowed as carry-ons.

Should we Blame McDermott Cue for the TSA ban

This might have been posted, but Southwest Airlines is allowing cues on the plane as a carry on.
I just went thru all of Southwest's carryon policies, they don't even mention pool cues or billiard equipment on their web site. Pool cues are a prohibited item on TSA web site. SW can't overrule that but its TSA responsibility to stop it on screening. You'll have to show me where it says SW allows pool cues, because they don't. I did see their carryon policy allows 24' bags.

You are correct, the measurement is 22". The 24" was a typo.
I edited the post. Thank you.

The math is correct, based on the 22"x14"x9".
If one was so inclinedas to make a custom bag from nylon to these dimensions, 27.5" would fit corner to opposite corner.
My mistake, I just found out Southwest allows 24" bags. All the other airlines I saw said 22".

Neither TSA nor the gate agents stopped us or the other players that were on the flight to Texas, now if that was a one off I dont know but I am going to try it at again next week, if it works out great, I'll post the pictures.

I just double-checked TSA, Pool cues not allowed as carryon. However, over the years I have seen people with cues as carry-ons. Typical government operation, AFU.
