Link to 3 piece custom travel cue thread

Here a question for ibuycues (Will), lfigueroa (Lou), Cornerman (Fred), or any others 3 pieces cue owner!!

Do you guy want to post, your cue spec/ measurement ?

It’s in the old town/romantic part of PV and is called Deportivo Los Molcajetes on Francisco Maduro — they have several heated, well maintained 3C tables and some pool tables but the pool equipment is not so good. In spite of that there is a group of expats that gather there during the day and often conduct some kind of tournament. I let them be.

The room holds open 3C tournaments and you can get a handicap and play. There’s also a room in the “downtown” area frequented by the locals that has 3C tables and, I am told, better maintained pool tables. But despite my best intentions I have not made the trek.

Thanks. I’ll check it out when we are there in February.

59", 19.25oz, 12.25mm at the tip, ivory ferrule, black Kamui SS tip.

Just so you know: it's easy to miss, there's no signage and I don't think they open until noon.

Look for the big iron gate.

I don't need complete specs, but curious about the joint in the thinner part of the cue. That would be considerably thinner than a normal joint. How is that handled, different taper so it's much thicker, or just a joint and insert in the smaller diameter? Seems like it could be a weak point.

I’ve posted pics of mine several times so I’ll just give a recap. 60”, three 20” sections and a 20” aluminum extension. It’s a long one🤣

OK, today is your lucky day:

The cue weighs exactly 19 oz; it is 58.5" long; the tip is 12.5mm; the collar at the end of the first segment is 16.5mm; the collar at the end of the second segment is 24.88; and the collar at the end of the cue is 31.95. The shaft pin is aluminum and goes into an insert and the steel pin at the butt does not have an insert.

It's a smooth taper and I've broken 9ball racks with it with no problemo.

Good work, Lou!

i may have missed this
but 3 piece cues you can put in your carry on and board with it

Thanks Lou,
Good to hear from you. Sounds like you had yours waaayy before most others even thought about it.
When I first saw the Predator set I was thinking it might even go diagonally in a briefcase. i had heard the motorcycle background too, probably from Freddie when we saw each other at Derby. I think Andy already knew he had a special cue from Sheldon.
Will
Yep. My first travel cue case from JBCases has the backpack straps. Works great on a motorcycle.

My Sheldon Travel Cue is about 58” and 19oz, 12.7mm dia, presser Triangle tips. I sent Sheldon my Schuler, and he made it to those dimensions and weight. Each piece is the same length as far as the wood goes, but the pins and the bumper of course make every piece a slightly different length. John Barton made my case. I had two “shafts” for this cue, so the case has four sections.

My Gilbert Traveler Cue is from Will Prout ( ibuycues ), so I believe Will already put the dimensions up. I also had JBCases build a case, and I had Tiger build me an aftermarket shaft for it. I put a Tiger extension ( mini butt, as the snooker players say) on it.

Thanks. Have you personally taken either of them on a plane as carry-on? If so, how recently, and how did it go?

I can’t remember how many times this has been covered, maybe a hundred.

Attention all pool players, our stupid government/TSA has banned pool cues from carry on baggage.

However most of them don’t realize my three pieces of carbon is a pool cue.

I'm flying domestically on Sunday and I will be bringing this inside my carry-on. They are parts of junk housecues/cues I cut a few years ago to keep some spare cue wood around. It does not matter if they get taken. Total length is 51", which is the longest I could assemble with the parts I had. I'll update the thread with what happens.
