Went online. Found a place that sells for 2.50 an inch. Alot of their stuff looks familiar

Pillow block bearings are nice.
You can use anything you want to use

I made a doweling slide for my table saw, the pillow block bearings i got from ebay were pure crap. I took them to a local machine shop and had them align the bores with the base so they were true to center. They bolted them together and fly cut the bases Now they are sweet

I'd think you can build one with taig parts and some plywood for around 5 hundred. Course, if you aren't into building stuff that would probably not be up your alley.

Are we building a repair lathe? Definitely not a full length lathe with a big bore headstock,

What if I replace the roller with this bearing, insert a plastic collet on the shaft and insert the shaft and collet into this bearing? The bearing has screws that you can use to center and tighten the collet to the shaft.

What size pillow bearing are we looking for? 5/8'' or 3/4''
And if there are only 2 screws to center it, will it not turn funny?
