Room size for two 8 foot tables.

Not sure how you came up with 31+ feet width from your calculations, but no, that is not correct. Refer to my post #13 in this thread.
i added 5 feet too much /forgetting the chart already has room on both sides for one table
if you subtract 5 feet from my calculation you get 26 feet just like you did.....(y)
thanks for pointing that out i will correct my post

Between the tables should be no diffirent then from edge of the table to the wall.

It's a little bit different. One edge of my table is adjacent to a railing. I can back up to the railing with my foot and shoot from the edge of the table rail. The railing doesn't encumber the cue at all, because the butt of the cue goes over it. Having a table next to you is the same thing - you might back up all the way to the other table when shooting off the edge, but it will never affect your cue because the table is low.

A wall will always be in the way.

If players are playing on both tables and they’re shooting shots from the same side, you could have 7 or even 8 feet between the tables and still the player on one table might have to wait for the player on the other table to shoot. That’s why I think a minimum of 6 feet between table sides is preferable, even though some pool rooms have 5 feet or less between tables, in an attempt to squeeze in as many pool tables as they can.

Do you all go by 5 feet from the outer edge of the rails or 5 feet from the edge of the playing surface/tip of the cushion?

Five foot from cushion nose really wouldn’t leave you with room for a backstroke when playing a ball frozen to rail. Better to have a minimum of five foot from edge of table. Just my opinion.

5 feet from the table edge to the wall is a good guideline, although the width of table rails can vary greatly from 5 inches on most home tables up to 8 inches on commercial style tables.

5 feet from the nose of the cushion to the wall is certainly not enough, as a standard pool cue is only 2 inches less than 5 feet, which would not allow you enough room for a backstroke if the cue ball is backed up against the cushion. If measuring from the cushion nose to the wall, make sure you have 5‘6“.

So if you weren't sure of the rail width 6' from the cushion nose would be plenty of room.

Obviously the more the better, but unless you use a long cue, 5’6” from cushion nose to wall is enough - it provides an 8” backstroke even if the CB is frozen to the cushion, the shot line is perpendicular to the cushion and the cue remains level with the table.

For a 2 table garage, with locals playing in it, you don't need as much room between the tables as you do against the wall. I've been to plenty of commercial pool rooms where my butt was almost sitting on the next table. Yes, it's not ideal, but it is workable.

I didn't look at your exact room dimensions, just wanted to point out the space between the tables can be less than the space to the wall.

Anyone know what the smallest Room size you can put two 8 foot tables in and still play well, I am wondering if they both with fit in my two car garage.?
Also how far a part should the min table distance be side by side.
If it’s a 20×20 garage, you are going to be way too tight to fit 2 tables side-by-side, even if they are 7 foot tables. You’d only have 3-1/2 feet to the side walls and 3-1/2 feet between tables. As someone else said, you’d be better off with one bigger table. Length should be no problem at all, but you really need a minimum of 23 feet of width for two side by side tables, and even that is far from enough.
