AMF Grand Prix 3 piece slate or one?

Hi. I have an opportunity to buy an AMF Grand Prix, at least that's what I think it is based on the photos. I've read all of the forum posts about these tables and, near as I can tell, nobody has mentioned if they are one or three piece. I've read mention of the center slate being messed up, which makes me think 3, but also mention of them being bar tables at one point, which makes me think one piece. The seller said one, but that was after telling her that you can frequently tell by looking under the table. I'd just go look, but it's 5 hours away (it's also only $300, so worth the drive, I think). Anyone have any personal experience/knowledge? Thanks!

Oh, and if this is the wrong forum, I'll happily move it (ask a mechanic?)/

i love these things. looks like it belongs in George Jetson's pad. if its a 9ft its three piece. if it needs new slate or any other major work i'd walk. can't get parts of any kind. btw, this is not a grand prix. pics of a GP in this: https://forums.azbilliards.com/threads/amf-grand-prix-4-5x9.249300/ this table is a notch or two below a GP. I'd keep looking unless you just want a cheap table to bang balls on.

Thanks garczar. It's an eight foot table, so maybe one piece. I was (semi-wisely) already feeling hesitant about age and the 5 hour drive, so I think I'll just listen to your advice and skip it. It sure is pretty though.

Looks a bit like an AMF Monaco, which is a non-slate table. Based on the flimsy looking legs, I would guess that to be the case here.

Yeah, there were a couple tables below a GP that shared some looks but not the build. those old Jetson's GP's were built like tanks. I love the 60's styling, not just tables but cars/boats/furniture/etc. Its when i grew up and i love the 50's/60's stuff.

OK, Boomer.... :ROFLMAO:

I'm a bit younger. Neon lights, big hair, Trans Ams, and Wham!

Alright.... I guess I come from a period that we don't need to revisit anytime soon.

My table is a 1997 AMF Grand Prix and doesn’t look like the table you posted. Mine looks so much like a GC3 that you have to look close to see that is not.

I had one of those years ago. Looks like a Grand Prix to me.

Then I got the newer GC knock off -- Grand Prix like the one pictured.

I saw a tournament on youtube from 95, used that table, had 4.5 inch pockets. Whoever was the player's association at the time went belly up. Then diamond came in with the 4.5 standard.
