This is misinformation...everyone knows the world is flat.
We just don't know which way is up....everyone knows the world is flat.

A friend of mine would bring a 5 gallon water jug that he would put frozen fruit juice jugs in them to keep them cold . Then add pre cooked steak and hamburgers in jip loc bags if he was only gone for a couple of days hard boiled eggs also .
I've got yeti knock off coolers that I take camping and will add 3-4 of the frozen juice jugs to then fill up with other food items , when the cooler is nearly full I put a layer of closed cell foam on top before closing the lid which adds a couple more days of keeping things cold .
If you have to store the coolers outside lay a plastic tarp down first then a packing blanket , setting the cooler on top of them ,then wrap it around the cooler to add more insulation value from the heat of the sun , silver side out on the tarp .
That was what I had to do when the old camper fridge / freezer didn't always work the best and I couldn't afford to fix it , now I upgraded to a newer camper nothing overly fancy but it has many upgraded items like a new fridge freezer and when I've got some lead time I get it plugged in and the battery installed and it hooked up to shore power .
The joy of working county fairs , night shows and rodeos and setting up everything to them before the people arrive to use them a 10 day fair is turned into 30 days to set up then take down afterwards .
I don't want to condone stabbing someone over food, but working a 12 hour shift on an empty stomach? I can understand.I went the other way working in the petro check plants in the wintertime. Find a hot blind valve or other convenient flat surface and I would eat a hot snack at midmorning, a hot lunch, and a hot midafternoon snack. Some dipshit plants wouldn't let us step inside any building but a portacan and hot food went a long ways towards staying warm in the wintertime. The guys in one unit I was working in weren't as discreet as I was and soon the unit was full of the smell of cooking and lunches everywhere! Safety issue with some of the fumes floating around and the plant shut things down. After that I was more careful about hiding my lunch!
One crew stole a big welding rod oven and designated a cook each day. The superintendent ate with them and everything was cool.
Speaking of stealing, there was a dipshit stealing somebody's lunch every morning and still eating his own lunch at noon. Very cold days, you really want your food! One guy whose wife sent him great lunches like banty hens had his lunch stolen twice.
Finally caught the thief and we used Old Hickory boning knives as tools on that job. About a dozen guys surrounded the thief and boning knives were out. I was just a journeyman on that job and it wasn't my responsibility. I stayed about a hundred feet away and watched. Too far away to identify the cutters if things started. I knew if one did, at least a handful would. I had friends I didn't want to be able to identify in that group of men. I wasn't going to see anything!
The superintendent came along, saw the commotion, and intervened. Drug the culprit by the ear to the shack and out the gate, fired on the spot! Funny thing, the culprit protested he hadn't stolen from the company or the plant, he should be allowed to stay. He wouldn't have lasted three days before there was a cutting or an industrial accident. A moron to say the least! The people that had went hungry on a twelve hour shift wanted him bad.

This man got away with it every day for two or three months. Every single day. He had left a lot of men hungry. That was about fifty meals he stole.I don't want to condone stabbing someone over food, but working a 12 hour shift on an empty stomach? I can understand.
A good cutting would be a better solution than what some guys I met did to a lunch thief. This man got away with it every day for two or three months. Every single day. He had left a lot of men hungry. That was about fifty meals he stole.
I hadn't lost a meal and don't think I would have been in the crowd ready to cut if I had. I would have been more than willing to give him a once in a lifetime ass kicking. Years later I wonder if there was something pathological in his stealing but it was a different time and place. I could have interfered myself. He was probably going to get cut up some but not killed. Of course when you are working with a ten inch blade there is some risk of doing more than intended.
Whatever happened, I wasn't going to see it. I wouldn't have seen it if I was ten feet away either. We were cold, often wet, hard to work up much sympathy for the thief. Glad he wasn't killed, there were over a half dozen knives out. I wouldn't have minded him getting a severe ass kicking. Had he been injured badly or killed, he knew the sentiment when he was stealing the meals.
