My New Billiard Room!

"Nothing in the world beats the sheer pleasure of running racks of Straight Pool . . . . playing barefoot, in your underwear, at 2 o'clock in the morning."

George characteristically -- and with his ad-man background showing -- beautifully captured the imagery and exhilarating *feeling* of an experience that many of us who've had a home table know so well..

Arnaldo ~ I had my table in Vermont for 16 years. Then I got too old to endure the winters there. AZ winters are swell for me now, and I play in the community clubhouse - with shoes on of course. :giggle:
And hopefully pants too😂

So, after 7 years of playing on my 9 foot Diamond Pro-Am (single slate) in my garage, I bought a new house big enough to bring it inside. The challenge was that the billiard room needs to be in the basement. :(. I called around and found a guy who would do it and he had great reviews. Juan Manuel at Pool Table Service DMV (Northern VA area) brought his crew in, disassembled and loaded up, drove about 2 miles to my new pad and had it installed in the basement and perfectly leveled in under 2 hours!

They showed up with no custom jacks or dollies, no winches, just strong backs. It was tough to watch...they slid the box and then the single piece slate down those furniture pads! No problem, no damage, they put it all back together and level without a blemish. It took the Diamond guys 3 hours to install it in my garage, these guys moved it and reinstalled it in under 2 hours. I highly recommend them.

Now I gotta figure out how I'm going to decorate this thing...starting with wall shelves, cue holders and spectator chairs. Then I'll see what wall art, etc.

Very nice! Can you still get a one-piece slate, and if so about how much would it cost?

I love the "Keeping the faith" poster! Good movie!
I've got three Edward Norton movie posters, all signed by the actors depicted...Keeping the Faith, Rounders and Fight Club. I served with his first cousin, and got to spend some time with him in Naples, Italy when he was on location for the Italian Job. He's actually a really nice guy! I've also got a head shot from American History X that he autographed to me, since I told him it was my favorite performance of his. My son kept the Fight Club poster, but the rest is all going on the wall in this pool room. ;)

Diamonds are the scourge of the earth. 😉

I bought mine in 2007 and have never looked back.
Very happy for you, I grin like a chicken picking bugs of a wire brush every time I see mine.
Have fun and thanks for the great pictures.
glad I’m not the only one. I just sat there and stared at mine forever when I first got it amazed I finally got one.

Awesome!

That's going to be a fantastic room. Every time you walk down those stairs, and you turn the lights on to play a little pool, you'll say to yourself, this was one of the best investments I ever made. Congrats on your new place, you are going to enjoy it.
