I have a Searing.

I have this 2002 Searing, but I don’t know the value should I have it at. Got them on a trade with a friend, and I have somewhat of a rough idea of how much they are selling for. I heard a normal Merry Widow searing already cost at 3500 to start and each request like inlays or rings and such are more. Please don’t quote me on this, but that’s pretty standard for most cue maker now, like Tascarella, OTT or SW.

It has two full shafts with 3 custom JPs from him. One shaft is Brandnew, other is used. The pin is 5/16-14 not the uniloc.

Let me know what ya think, yes, the price is what people feel or want to pay for it. However if you’re more knowledgeable about these, please give me a rough estimate.

You did a trade without knowing the value?

The market is really strange now. Kids 20-40, don’t appreciate custom cues anymore. Being nearly 50 I do, but they are not something that I can leave to my heirs. I think your cue is worth more than a SW Satin, I think that’s the comparable market. It sounds ridiculous but that’s my opinion, I’d buy it in a second over a Satin, but I’m tapped out.

a plain merry widow used to go for $3500-$4500 with the low end bienf closer to the norm several years ago
with your cue having inlays i would think closer to $5000 is its worth
i sold my collection several years ago so i have not kept current on recent prices
btw
i sold it for the reason you mention
i believed the number of people who want these type of cue and can afford them is decreasing

How is worth calculated ..... I would find it very tough to pay 5k unless it was a 360 style

Worth is calculated by what the market will pay
From what I see most Searing that are not plain Janes go for 4500 at a very low minimum and upwards to 10 to 15,000
Again, I don’t buy sell cues for many years now, so I might be out of touch with the marketplace
But Searing is one of those that rarely come up for sale and seem to always be in high demand

Thank you my friend. It’s a good advice. I already ordered an extension from Dennis, and I hope I’ll get it not like other people in 3-5yrs.
