Kick safe off the break or roll out

Hooked off the break, I almost never roll out. I’d rather play a kick safe instead. Thats when the ball is not locked up or something like that. What about you all? Do you prefer to take the safe route and be a
“push”over, or keep “control” and kick the s$&t out of it?

(I know I know the last line was for the aw factor though)😂😂

That's a good question. I gotta ride the fence on this and see what happens.

Well nobody else found it interesting Mensa. I am legitimately saying the only time I will roll out is if I am hooked like a mofo. And really what I’m going to do in that situation is lock up something and leave a more manageable kickshot on the 1 most of the time. So somebody is going to have to kick at it one way or the other. I’d rather be the one at the table kicking it.

you almost always push. unless i guess if you think you can kick and leave him hooked. how good are you or anyone else.

and unless you are a top pro pushing out is an advantage. as you should have shots you can hit better than your opponent.
so leave him one of those.

My buddy and I ,whom I play all the time play no push or safes . Go for everything . I do play a lot of two way shots but it is just for fun anyway . I am sure that this has messed up my safety play if I were ever to match up with someone .

Depends on what you mean by "hooked".

As a general rule, I prefer to keep control of the table, and don't push unless it's really the best option.

But if the "kick safe" is little more than a "kick to hope to hit", I'll take the more strategic push...
Danny d would always say don’t roll out cause you give the other guy a better shot to hook you worse
Might as well go for the kick

My favorite roll out was rolling to a kick bank to a wired combination on the 9. My opponent (Don Wirtiman) didn't bother to look closer when I acted disappointed. He thought I was disappointed at the hook. I was disappointed that I had rolled to a natural kick. 🤷‍♂️

that is mostly wrong and only right in certain circumstances.

if that was the case why didnt he and most others go for the kicks when pushout was played. because except for certain easy kicks where you can hit the spot on the ball where you want every time and and get him safe.

and most times they let you shoot again after your pushout. so how can it be better to not get into a better spot for yourself.

The push out rule itself is proof 9b is a stupid ass game

I can’t hit the ball after the break I need a crutch

full pushout in nine ball put alot of strategy into the game favoring the smarter player. especially for non runout players.

take eddie taylor for instance. no one in the world would play him 9 ball back when pushout was normal. as he could pushout to shots he could make no one else was even close to a favorite to make. namely tough banks.

louie roberts could cut shots in no one else could. so he would push out to them.

I prefer kicking into a safe. Often I’ll push out if the kick is too hard to make contact or to get separation, in which I’ll push into an easier kick. I’m terrible at jumping so I don’t ever push into a jump.

two factors decide for me

1. Playing for cash or fun

2. the table tells me what to do.
