Is Karl Boyes à complete moron?

My answer is no, he is not.
Granted, I have never met him so I am going off interviews and such for reference.
The thread title suggests OP needs to be more respectful.
Karl was once world-class.
It's no wonder the pros no longer visit this place.
I have said this a million times. Particularly from the "systems disciples". I'm not trying to make this about CTH etc. It's just that the passion for the topic overwrites their compassion for civil dialog.

Been here off-on since '07 and i don't recall pros ever really frequenting the place. CJ, love him/hate him, is about the only true 'pro' i can remember saying much of anything on here. What pros i've talked to about AZB all seem to say same thing: they know about it but couldn't care less about it.

Long list have come and gone. I personally know have a dozen top 50 pros (most from Europe) who have aliases and just come here from time to time for entertainment or news but almost NEVER post. Look at a young tech savvy guy like Fedor. He's got an active social media presence but has the good sense of mind not to post here. Why get in a fight with a clown and destroy your nice guy image.

Why would any pro come on here? What are they going to gain? Nothing, they have far better things going on. Golf is same way. There are multiple on-line golf forums and no REAL pro golfers go on them. You mentioned Fedor. True, he does have a FB following so why would he or any other pro post here? They know how to play, get all their shit free so just WHY would they? Has nothing to do with attitudes or atmosphere, they just don't care at all. I don't know,or care, about Europros but a bunch of US based players have said(some to my face) that AZ has zero attraction for them. As i said before in almost 18yrs CJ, Keith(a little) probably B. Meecham(island drive) are about the only PRO's that posted here. Who is on this 'long list'? Must have been pre '07.

Entertainment value.
Yeah right. Go find any top player and ask them about AZ. The blank stare and them walking off will be your answer. I was at a pro event in Texas one time and AZB came up. Consensus was it was place for hacks and wanna-be's. Folks AZ is the 'amateur/banger'(i'm both) players home base. Bottom line is they have BETTER WAYS to spend their time. If you were a REAL pro would you come on here? Not a chance.

To clarify, I meant entertainment value as in laughing at those hacks and wanna-be's. Not for everyone, but I can imagine some pros will find it funny, obviously not as something they'd do regularly.

If pro's are so bored they'd come here for 'entertainment' i REALLY feel sorry for them. ;)

i don't want to summon him by writing the name but i bet there's another one you probably remember, a guy with a keen interest in straight pool high runs.. and his main rival for that matter. not to mention his alter ego

archer posted here when i joined iirc, darren too occasionally. don't remember his nickname.

but yea today's pros would do best in using social media like fedor or ko bros, build a brand and a fan base, promote their sponsors, get exhibitions..

Wow, SVB's post history is very interesting! He was just "some guy" who a few people knew about when he first started posting here in 2005. In one of the posts he mentions matching up with Dennis 20 years in the future. Prescient.

This I doubt. Do you have any evidence? Links to the study, please.
No need for a study... I have played for 60+ years and can still string racks together.

I play with CF everyday now and have for the last six years.

Need a study... look at what the vast majority of pros play with now days.

Don't quote a ridiculous number without a study.

15-20% increase in power is a fascinatingly stupid claim without empirical evidence.

Wow, somebody's boredom level is way different than mine. You have this on file or went and dug it up?? Either way i don't whether i should be impressed or disturbed. ;) BTW, who the hell is Steve Lipsky and Alice Rim? Never heard of either one. Posting levels( i still can't believe someone calculated this) are pretty low which comes as no surprise. Thanks for the detective dig, i think. ;)

Well, thanks, I think, for the thanks. Alice Rim is a former WPBA player. Steve Lipsky is a good player from New York, perhaps best known for his 14.1. He has been hiding from us for quite a while.

Re terminology: When I was very young where the cue ball ended up was called SHAPE. Now it's called POSITION. The previous generation of players before me called it LOCATION. I recently have heard the term ALIGNMENT. So progress is alive and well. Just POT the ball, get your ALIGNMENT and take down the BOOTY.
