GC5 Tournament Edition pocket sizes

Hi guys,
do any of you own or play on GC5 TE?

I just got mine today and pockets are far bigger than what I expected - somewhere between 4.8 and 5 inches. Always thought GC5 TE is 4.25 and the regular GC5 is 4.5.

I'm sure it's a genuine GC5 TE since it came from a reputable seller but baffled why it came with buckets instead of 4.25... add in new, slick cloth and it's not challenging enough.

Second question is what's the best method to tighten these pockets (either to 4' or 4.15')? Glue a carefully crafted piece of wood to the pockets and install a new rubbers over them (this would of course be done by a professional)? I've played on a lot of modified Brunswicks and most jobs are poorly done.

According to B'wick the TE has 4.5-4.6" corners, not 4.25". Standard GC is 5". Best way to tighten (expensive) is do a sub-rail modification where wood is added to subrail followed by longer cushions. You can shim a table or use thick facings also. You don't get as accurate pocket dimensions(mouth-to-throat ratio) and facings will often be too hard if you shim too much. all depends on how serious you are and your bankroll. BTW, i don't think that is a TE. If 4.5" two balls would freeze between the points right on their equators. This is obviously bigger than that. Has to be a standard GC5. I'd talk to that dealer or B'wick directly.

Thanks for your reply.
I will measure them again to see if it's closer to 4.6 but fairly sure it's 4.8+. I've attached a picture but everything looks GC5 TE except the pockets.

This is what I had in mind too. -----> Best way to tighten (expensive) is do a sub-rail modification where wood is added to subrail followed by longer cushions.

Had thick facings on my previous table to make it 4.25 but it made the pockets completely dead (barely any rattles, etc).

Surely this has to be GC5 TE?

It has the right decal on it but that doesn't mean that rails from a standard GC weren't used. Your pics show pockets in the 4.7-4.8 range. What EXACTLY do the corners measure point-to-point?

The term to use is subrail extensions. Subrail modification involves adjusting the bevel of the subrail to properly fit modern K55 cushions. This is done on Brunswicks originally outfitted with Monarch SuperSpeed cushions, generally GCII and earlier. The GCIII-Present came with Brunswick SuperSpeed cushions which are a modern K55 profile, therefore no bevel adjustment is necessary.

I like the 6 too. Only played on one and it was nice. It had been tightened correctly and played great. Really curious about the new 7. B'wick is playing it close to the vest. Little-to-no info it. Mark Gregory is supposed to be tech. advisor on it.

I believe Global is making them.

I really hope they get back into the pro game.
Escalade has the money if they want to do it. They own a lot of big names and don't jack around. With billiards, ping-pong, darts and cornhole they could sponsor the "Bar-room Olympics". ;)
