GC5 Tournament Edition pocket sizes

I understand what you are saying.
It does not relate to the image in this discussion.

It absolutely does. It relates to every image ever taken using balls as a tool to measure the width of the pockets (at the points). So this whole argument started because this very image has gaps, right? Those gaps by eye look to me to be about 1/16" on the left, 1/16" in the middle, and 1/8" on the right. That adds up to 1/4" of gap. Add that up to the 2 ball diameters. 2 1/4" + 2 1/4" + 1/4" gap = 2 3/4" of estimated pocket width. That's what everyone (other than me) in this thread thinks this pocket measures, correct?

But the OP put a ruler on the points, with 1/8" graduations, and it showed between 5 1/2" and 5 5/8", or we can estimate 5 9/16".

So how do we reconcile the balls showing 5 3/4" and the ruler showing 5 9/16"? Well, either the ruler is a cheap inaccurate one like some ppl think, or the balls are 2 1/8" as others think, or the picture is distorted like I pointed out, or what I'd bet the freaking house on, is this is normal! The two methods will never in a million years show the same number. Because the BALL SITS UNDER THE POINTS. Holy shit I can't see how you guys don't all see this.

Beautiful table!!!! I would love to have that one, I'm jealous. But the picture of the balls made me puke in my mouth a little, those gotta be the worst looking balls ever made. :)

You come to my place and I have equipment options. 😄 How about these instead:

@rexus31 I measured using a ruler and I’m estimating these are 4 9/16” pockets. Admittedly it’s difficult photographing the measurement accurately.

Then again, I tried measuring using Greg Sullivan’s method (which I can not entirely view in this video), and they measure more like 5”. Who knows. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Looks about right. Good size. Tuff without being stupid. Nice table.

I think the best tool to measure with is a set of calipers. I know, the pic is showing the incorrect side of the tool to measure with. I measured correctly but didn't want the measurement upside down in the pic.

To go back a quarter century in slang, That's tight! ;)

I guess the OP figured out what is going on with his table and balls. He said he would post more pictures in a bit. That was two days ago.

I did the same thing with pool balls. Bought a set of Centennials, then Cyclops, then Aramith Tournaments and have another unopened set of Tournaments for when I recover my table.

Here’s a couple photos of the pockets on my friend’s home table. 4 1/4” CP are tight enough for my tastes on 9’ tables.
The pics without any object balls are of the tighter pockets on some of the 9’ Diamond Pool tables at Sierra Billiards.

Going smaller would lead to less enjoyable practice time and make the tables needlessly more difficult when 4.5” CP are becoming the norm. 5” pockets are more suited for youth recreation centers. Sierra Billiards where I have an annual
membership have (8) 9’ Diamond Tables. (4) have 4.25” CP & (4) are standard size 4.5” CP….SP are always 1/2” bigger.
