in a home where you may have the floor move with the seasons a tiny bit, a 3 piece starts to get a bump on the seams.

Why? other then having to move it. Lol if my diamond ever needs moved I’m paying someone to do it. besides that I can’t think of a single reason I would want 3 piece over 1 piece.
Upstairs, downstairs, resale all better with 3 piece. Not sure if this is true but in my mind milling a three piece would be more accurate. I’ll ask RKC if this is true.

I’ve seen plenty of slates pop all over the country, that’s why you correctly super glue the seams. Essentially turning it into a one piece slate with the benefits of three piece when needed.

Old men like GC’s

I’d bet the farm

Best

You just won some pigs, cows and horses. There is nothing like a GC 1 to lV... ( 5 & 6 are not GC's).
Best back<----- GC ...birth certificate expiring.... as if anyone gives a FlyingF.

I did get a Professional 9 1pc because of availability/time frame. I would have gone for a restored GC. Blatts Billiards has some really nice custom built GC's but passed as I did not the have right mechanic to set it up

Why are the 5's/6's not GC's? Trim is different but the frame/guts are the same.

5's and 6's play just as good and the same as all the earlier versions. They are nice. I played on every generation over the years, all were great.

I want to see the age distribution of the votes

Old men like GC’s and kids (let’s say 40 ) like Diamonds

I’d bet the farm on that statement

Welcome back 👍

We have Diamonds and GC1s in our room…..I can drive a froze ball down the rail on a Diamond much more successfully than a GC because of that different cut even though the pocket opening on a Diamond is smaller. RKC can explain it.
Absolutely 💯

Trim change for sure... they are the Modern GC's but happiness is the traditional 1-4's. I could not stand the 5's but started to like the look. They were gone when I considered one. I'm not fan of the 6..not at all. I know you're more into the table as player not artwork but the 1-4's are artwork. I'm a pimpy guy that love things in pristine condition.

I'm not sure if I posted this earlier. The square corners on my Professional snag clothes. The edges are not beautifully beveled. The round corners look better and easier to lean against and walk by...however Rounded is not available with the PRC (whatever they are called) rails.

I've currently got a 7ft Diamond and a 9ft gold crown..with 4 inch pockets..they both play great . I am replacing the gold crown
With a diamond as I prefer the way the 9 foot diamonds play ..but I definitely prefer the looks of the gold crown

I don’t hate Diamond tables. I owned one for 10 years. They are built great and the 1pc slate idea is brilliant for tourneys.

I just prefer how GC’s play. The 6 imo is the best ever the 5’s sucked

I played in the 70's and early 80's then quit for about 35 years. Started playing again about 7 yrs back. Just turned 75, and as stated before, although I really like my Diamond Professional shown earlier in this thread and purchased 4 yrs back, I would have been equally pleased with a new Rasson or Gold Crown if professionally set up.
By me, you have Valleys and Diamonds, and closest 9' is about 2 hrs away. I do get to play on a Gold Crown when visiting family about 3 1/2 hrs away and it's fun. Older Gold Crowns just seem to have a mystique about them that feels good when playing, but when wanting a new table for my house, I didn't want to deal with cleaning up an old one and just wanted it put up and done.
I have many hobbies and pool is just one of them, but it has brought a lot of enjoyment to my wife and I, plus with the two leagues we shoot, we have made many close friends. Leagues can be a good thing for some especially when run well as ours are.
One other funny side note. Diamond must like my table setup also, as they used my photo in their new web site design as an example of their Professional table line. That was interesting to see.
So Fatboy, guess you were correct, I'm old, but don't feel like what I look like in the mirror ha ha, and I do like it when I get to play on a Gold Crown, but really like my Diamond Professional, except for the deep shelf pockets that is, ha.
Fatboy, good to see you back, always enjoyed what you had to say. Hope you can stick around awhile.

I find the people that rave over the tables like they are the greatest thing ever to be the most annoying.

"We're playing on diamonds" Chill out people it's another table. They all pretty much all play the same. This might be geared towards them low level APA players. :ROFLMAO:
They are not the same. If I could give up the 8-ball on a Robertson, I could give up the 7-8 on a GC.
I used to give 20 points at snooker to a guy on a Fleetwood 6x12….best I ever did was break even a couple times…..
at his own room he had Brunswick Anniversaries…..he quit me after four sessions getting 35.

Neighbor down the road has a 9' Gold Crown in his hunting shack. He's also got a bar, somewhat of a kitchen, and two bedrooms. I saw it when going over to talk to him one day, I tried to get him to play a game, he said only his kids used it. He also holds family weddings and parties there. Pretty neat setup. You just never know what you are going to find in the middle of nowhere around here.
