Hitting better with a hard tip?

you haven't seen me play lately. double-cancer pretty much ended hopes of playing good again. i'm a glorified better than average banger now.
Can't take away the past mastery of the game tho.
Irregardless of present circumstances. Most will never come close to achieving that level of play.
They don't even know what the zone is, let alone having been there, done that, as you have.
Being vertical each day after big c is one helluva win for you in my book!!👍🏻

Could be all in my head. I've been using a medium or soft tip forever. I recently purchased an old Mali with a hard tip. Playing with it I seem to have a better time at pocketing balls. Is this something that would just be in my head or something that might have weight behind it and if so what would be the reason? Thanks!

Based upon my experience I'd guess it's the cue more than the tip.

A lot of guys find it difficult to have a hard on.

Still don't know who makes the tip I play with. All I know is that it feels like a hard tip would feel, and my cue guy shapes it once.

I’m enjoying being a rail bird.

Glad you’re still playing. I respect that.

I can’t play at all anymore, I suppose I could get back to 90%. But right now that much effort to not play my best is hard to get any motivation. But who knows maybe I’ll play again.

Stay strong 💪

My answer is....precision. 🤷‍♂️
As in the ping pong paddles analogous. A tight pocket requires precision. A large pocket is more forgiving and allows more focus on putting special sauce on whitey to move it through traffic.
Hard for precision and soft for forgiveness. With the skills required disclaimer for the hard choice. Tri angle is my choice as it's close to waterbuffalo but a little more forgiving.
A morning observation:
I put the competition shaft in rehab and pulled out my backup shaft. A nice Joss (maybe West) but tipped for the wife's preference of softer. Along with a thinner and more flexibility in the shaft. Reminds me of Cole's knowledge regarding equipment. Like the evolution of the pole in vaulting.
My results this morning's workout which always starts one handed over the ball one rail kick to target. Detects a double hit on a micro scale.....🤔

Do it for Recreation is my motto. It helps with the loses at leagues. 🤷‍♂️
Still a good morning fitness program that keeps in the best possible shape...

.just in case someone gets my Nostrils Flaring. Shrug

OK final ....Lefty hit the Max points.
See the Preach thread . 🤷‍♂️

Try It It's fun....and the change in tip is significant but a skilled operator can adjust quickly.
"Give Me back to back matches on the same table.....we'll see how he likes it."
My favorite Sunday morning breakfast grumble, was Brady Golan after getting sent to the second chance side. The nature of the double elimination format provides just that. Grady put huge packages in the finals and won handily.

It's similar to throwing a curve in baseball. Many different curves available through variations of speed and spin. One of the toughest back in the day didn't overpower he just kept them off their timing. The time the ball and tip interact resembles what I experienced going from sandpaper to soft rubber playing ping pong. 🤷‍♂️
