Very well constructed box style cue cases - I believe that they are no longer being manufactured. Now used primarily for cue storage by cue collectors. I seem to recall them as more 1990s into the 2000s as being made new.
One in excellent condition as a one cue butt and 2 shaft case would, I think, bring $150 to $200 range on the higher end. This style case is now rarely used to transport cues to a pool room for play.

M iany thanks for your knowledge! I believe I got it in a trade in the late '90's myself. I traded a fancy Meucci Originals MO-11 that was off color and this case. The Meucci MO-11 was off color that 1 year. It has the David Howard shown in the picture here. Again ty for your your time and knowledge, sir!

Here's what an O'Neil case should look like. Bigger suitcase handle. End pieces are four metal pieces on each corner. To my knowledge, there wasn't a label on the outside of an O'Neil case.

His case is an early O'Neil case- they did have stamps on them. O'Neil was picking up where Palmer left off in terms of timing of luggage cue case production. In fact, many people don't know that some very early Palmer CUES had stamps on them too, like the early Adams cues; but the Palmer luggage cases, not made by Palmer, but by a NY based wood box company, never had stickers on the case, but always had Palmer embossed on the case.

Can you show us another O'Neil case that looks like this one?

I no longer own an O’Neil cue case. If this O’Neil cue case sticker exists - then they obviously manufactured cases with stickers at some point- which I have personally seen going back at least 25- 30 years ago.
Do you think that someone actually made fake O’Neil cue case stickers - that would have cost more money in 1993 or so than the case would have been worth! We are not talking about $10,000 cue fakes here!
I understand your point - as most O’Neil cases that we see do not look like this one. However , all I am attesting to is that long ago I do remember O’Neil cases with stickers that looked like this one. Old Billiard Digest copies had O’’Neil cue case ads - Here is a 1993 O'Neil cue case ad that I retained. They show a " Economy" case offered by O'Neil - It comes in 1X1 and 1X2, this economy case is what you see in the poster's photo.

Most of the O'Neil cases that we are all familiar with are their DeLuxe models. Few of their economy models are out there today. The poster's case is an O'Neil Economy model cue case. The cases first produced, even before this 1993 Billiards Digest O'Neil cue case ad , did not all have the stitching on top that we are familiar with as O'Neil cases. Their DeLuxe model, the ones most of us know, became the standard that defined the case in appearance and durability.
As I mentioned earlier, if someone showed you a Palmer cue with just a sticker- you may think that it was a fake- right? yet the guy who runs the Palmer site on Facebook, Jay, has shown examples of early Palmer cues with stickers - I had never seen one before either- early production runs sometimes have nuances that makers drop after the first few runs as they find something that they feel is more appealing and / or more defining for their product.

Boy, I love these old school box cases! I would go nuts for that one in the add, called the 6 cavity case holds 3 butt's and 3 shafts!! Have been on the look out for one of them. Seen an old many at one of the halls in jersey with one years ago. Big, butt classy!! Mikemosconi thank you for showing that add in the magazine,it was awesome!!

I love my 4x6. Would love to have another. If you want to view your cues you can without removing them from a traditional case. Maybe that makes me odd, but sometimes it’s just nice to view the collection.

About 10 years I owned four 3x3's and a 12x12 dealer case with factory O'neal plush inserts to display cues vertically at shows. They were all filled with very nice custom cues and stored under our Cal King. They looked exactly like the one WW posted. Black / Black, chrome corner proctors ( like anvil HD instrument cases ) and were from early 90's. I spoke with owner and sent him photos to get info. They has no tags. Excellent, secure storage

Please check out the Palmer Collector Site. O'Neil made many versions from the '60s until Palmer closed up in 1994. I know early cases had no corner protector, at least 3 different style handles. Only the cases sold directly to the public got the chrome O'Neil sticker.
