Only a few have the gamble and intellect to win then lose that kind of money. I can't criticize Archie for his choices in his life.

I’ve done that. Spun it up. Lost a shit ton as well.

Fortune favors the bold.

Fatboy<——-not as bold as he used to be, 😉

Nothing risked nothing gained, but wisdom comes with age. Most here have no clue what went thru Archies head during that time, including me, but I wonder how bad his regrets were later in life. Very few get to touch that kind of money or experience that kind of roller coaster ride. I personally don't know anything about Archie except what I've read, so I can't judge him. I don't know if this is the greatest story ever told or the biggest tragedy. I guess in the end it's not a really tragedy since no one was killed or got hurt. It's just some paper that people put ink on. Maybe that is the lesson here and we all shouldn't care so much about it. As long as you have your health, family and friends and can put food on the table, the rest is just shiny stuff. We all live more comfortably than anybody in history yet we seem to be miserable as a society. I question why that is. I think there is real value in hard work, helping others and loving your fellow man. My hope is tomorrow everyone gets up early to watch the sunrise and reflect on what is really important in life.

what is important to you. not so with many others. everyone has their own ideas of what they want and values.
thats good or the world would be robots.

There are some truths to your words, but in Archies case what was he chasing? As FB said I believe, he was living in his car to save gambling money. The mind is a strange thing sometimes and it takes all kinds to make the world go around as you said above. This does not change the fact that many are unhappy in their lives whether they have money or not. So what is the truth? What is it that we seek? I would argue money is a tool or a mode of transportation allowing us to experience life. In the end, misuse of money is destructive. I argue that true wealth comes from within and appreciating what you have and not admiring what you don't.
