The Reyes Cup

GAME OVER for Team Europe. Total rout by Team Asia in Day 2. Not even close. Don’t think any team in Mosconi Cup history has ever comeback to win from 5 points down after 2 days.

Pretty embarrassing for Team Europe that MR had to step in and postpone fifth match of Day 2 to Day3 cos it would be disaster if the event had finished in 3 days instead of 4.
Shoe is not the other foot for Team Europe who have enjoyed dominance in MC for so long.

MR probably know it is foregone conclusion and now deciding who will be MVP :ROFLMAO:
Yapp frontrunner for MVP with 1 singles win +2 doubles win. Ko and Duong tied with 1 singles win and 1 doubles win. Biado 1 singles win. Chua 0 win

and there i was saying the fifth pick should not be duong.. anyway, it's not over, the euros have all the experience

How is that working out for you
The "I never doubted Europe" was in jest, since I was continuously doubted Europe's chances.

Nevertheless I hope for a glorious comeback today. Also because Ive planned tomorrow to go day drinking in a pub and watch the Reyes Cup. Wife and kids are out of town 😍 hope there are some matches left

Realistically I don't see Europe winning day 3. Maybe a tie for the day. Team Asia players almost never falter. Even when it gets tough they hit their shots are dead center. Europe sometimes achieves thst temporarily but never the entire match.

Nevertheless, lesssgooooo!!! Juroooooooope

That's what has surprised me actually, there is a case (although its close) that on paper Team Asia could be stronger man for man, however factoring in the nature of the contest, with Team and Doubles matches, Europe has far more experience.

So this scoreline has surprised me (and its not really been that close, the lead is completely deserved).

i think their pool culture in general is rowdier, in both philippines and vietnam, making them less prone to succumb to crowd pressure. english 8-ball has that too btw, which is why guys like darren and boyes always thrived at the MC.

Love the format of the Reyes and glad the Mosconi will mirror most/all of it.

Watched all of day two later in the day. Some thoughts:

Team Europe has made more mistakes, plain and simple. They have missed more key balls, and if not for a handful of golden breaks, they could be being shut out. They have not broken as well, either.

Kaci has showed his rust from not playing as much this year.

FSR has been so-so for the second straight cup. Alcaide has not been as sharp in this one, either.

On the Asian side, Yapp and Huong have gotten comfortable and that's paid huge dividends. Both have been consistent and Europe has not punished their few mistakes.

Ko finally got it going yesterday. Biado has not been supersharp, but he outfoxed Krause in the final match of the night.

Chua barely played yesterday. His doubles match got canceled and he only played one game in the teams match. But his win in the team match was the most impressive of the day. He was very aggressive and made several tough length-of-table shots shots.

Krause also had a great runout in his loss to Biado.

On the crowd: Panazzo said there are actually more than 1,000 people in attendance, but you can't see them from the TV.

Why didn't Krause shoot this with running side? 9-ball frozen to the rail, surely the margin is much bigger with running side than whatever he shot it with (either no side or tiny bit of check side, can't judge well from that image).

Is it something to do with table conditions? Not too familiar with all the differences.

I was surprised by the miss. Maybe running was close to a scratch. He should have been straighter.

8-3 now

FSR and Shaw stop the bleeding, but Francisco clearly has shown his nerves. Worst scoop shot I've ever seen by a pro in a MR event trying to draw the cueball.

Chua makes some of the toughest shots I've ever seen look easy at times. So looking forward to seeing him over the next year or two.

Feel for Matchroom

Awkward position of having to cut matches?

Kaci is a awful. I would never pick him in a team match.

Wrong attitude and somebody who is not a team player.

He is the European version of SVB.

3 games is not good enough.

Matchroom are ripping off fans.

They should at least ask players to play a few exhbition matches for the fans who turned up.

Team fargo ratings:
Asia - KPY 840, Biado 831, Chua 828, Yapp 828, Hoang 811
Europe - FSR 841, Kaci 833, Shaw 830, Alcaide 813, Krause 787 (he is certainly playing better than this of late)

In an alternate universe available for Europe - Filler 851, Gorst 843, Ouschan 824, Szewczyk 821, Zielinski 820, Kazakis 819

So tomorrow, when Europe comes back from 3-9 to win 11-10, the session might last until 3 am or 4 am local time!:)
