that may be true to a degree but in poorly lit pool rooms the dark purple 4 and the ox blood 7 do you no favors. i much prefer aramith pro cup balls

the sharkstream boys obviously had difficulties identifying the centennial style balls in the recently concluded 14.1 event, so it's not clear cut in the streaming world either

My main deal is the messing with tradition. To me it would be like MLB changing the baseball color to bright orange just so a few in the nosebleed seats could see it better. Changing poolballs so someone at home in mom's basement watching on 3" fone screen can see the balls better is ludicrous imo.

Originally, alternate sets were created so balls could be better seen on TV prior to HD broadcasts/televisions.

I’m legit colorblind so may be way off… but have you seen the dynasphere tungsten colors? I know they are a bit different. Could that be closer to what you are after?

I've seen them. Not for me. It's really the purple, green, and brown colors that I love in the Black set. I just don't like the pink and black.

The Arcos set is somewhat close, but I haven't seen them in person to be sure.

I wonder if the 20ish and under crowd that have the pool bug all watched The Hustler and The Color of Money. Or too old for them, even though they are pool nuts.

The people have spoken and the manufactures have listened. That’s a credit to the pool community!!

Now if someone on either Mcup team would bring a proper orange 5 and swap it out this next Mcup-that would be a total victory.

Go figure. Even the few who HAVE watched ’THE HUSTLER‘, most didn’t even notice they weren’t playing 8-ball.
It’s a common mistake to assume others are as informed as we. I was flabbergasted when another classic car fan my age had no idea what a ‘continental kit’ was.

Charlie Finley, Oakland A's owner, introduced the orange baseball to the MLB in 70's. Played with it in spring training and a few A's home games.
