I'm in the financial district of Los Angeles for the next little while. I'll have some time to play pool. Not *necessarily* looking for action, but definitely a decent room. It seems like there are some bars with a table or two, like Grayson's. Am I missing a player's room?

Nope you didn’t miss anything, hasn’t been a room around there in forever. 😕

tough to run a 'hall when rent is a billion per square inch.
Among other reasons yes, that’s correct.

Pool has been gone in la for so long people might not know what a pool room is anymore in some areas.

The Cue Ball in Alhambra is 12 miles from the Financial District. It's not really a players room but you might get some action. They've got a handful of first gen Diamonds and about 20 Gold Crowns.

Mr. Lucky's is 20 miles away in Torrance. I've not been there but I've hear there can be some action.

Good Times Billiards is 22 miles away in Lakewood. Nice room. They have one tight Diamond 9', some Predator and Diamond 7' and a few Gold Crowns. The rest are junk 9'. You can most likely get action there.

Keep in mind, "miles" is a relative thing here in LA. It can take an hour to go 15 miles the wrong time of day.

Mr Lucky’s is a good room during the day. At night it’s just bangers. Equipment is good too. Long drive from downtown, if you can find the time it’s good

Yes distance is defined by time in LA, 15 miles with an helicopter is possible. It’s beyond bad to get around somedays. So I left……

I figured that out on my first trip to NYC 2 weeks ago. 14 miles was all it was from Yankee Stadium to the rental. Then I was told that is 14 NYC miles.

Cue ball in Alhambra is probably closest. Not really a players room but I live close and hit balls there frequently. Pm me if you want a game I mostly play 1 pocket (although the equipment at cue ball isn’t great for it pockets are like 4.5 on the diamonds) but I’ll play rotation games too. I wish more players came in there bc I will always jump in action but mostly I just hit balls by myself for a couple hours. Anyway I’m around if you want a game cheap or expensive.

Edit: if you’re looking for action rooms there’s sportsman’s in Crenshaw which is a 1 pocket room, there’s libertad in Santa Monica which is a 3 cushion room but they have some extremely tight Brunswick’s and there is some high level 1 pocket there daily. Aloha in Buena Park has a lot of action too

The train is your best bet. We stayed in Mid Town in June and took the 4 train to the stadium. It took 15-20 minutes.

Thanks all. I appreciate all the suggestions. I'm sort of confined by circumstances to the Financial District so it's good to know I haven't missed anything in my immediate proximity.

There seem to be lots of street level retail vacancy in downtown, maybe an opportunity for a revival. The same thing happened in my home, DC. All the downtown rooms closed as rent went up then the pandemic killed downtown retail and I imagine the land lords would love a pool room as a tenant.

A little action at Mr. Lucky’s. When I’m at LAX I’ve been going to Sportsman’s Family Billiards in Crenshaw. There’s always 1P action there, without fail🤣

Yes that’s true. I’ve never been there.
