That soccer club over in Santa Monica has a couple good 9’ tables and a few 3C that are ok. I can’t recall the name of the place it’s around Olympic and 13th st as I recall/ I can drive to it, just can’t remember the name at proper address. There’s action in there sometimes. Nothing serious

Libertad Soccer Club.

They have three really old Brunswicks from the 1940s that are tuned up for one pocket and another Gold Crown.

Then they have a couple of Three Cushion tables.

If you are looking for One Pocket action, that is a room you may find some.

This is the main 1p action spot now. Tables redone very tight by Ernesto, a lot of Santa Monica hob regulars are there now. Some real high speed players and regular action. Owner is a nice old Mexican 3 cushion player named Jose. Time and beers are modestly priced. If I lived closer to Santa Monica I’d be in there all the time but as it is I just pop in once in a while. Always get a game
 
The Green Room has 9 footers (at least one GC) as well as Pyramid and Snooker tables. It's about 7 miles north of you in Glassell Park. Cool, retro LA vibe, but it's pricey.

Peaky Sticks is about 3 miles west of you in Koreatown. It's a relatively new room with 8 footer, 9 footers and Pyramid tables. I've never been, but parking is tough in the area. It looks very clean, but it's really pricey.

There are other billiards rooms in Koreatown, but they're mostly focused on 3 cushion.

EDITED to mention that you'll likely not find any action at either place unless it's Pyramid.

I like that place.

What pisses me off is I drove past it for 30 years and never stopped in before. I’d have skipped HOB if I’d have went there once. I love it!!

Problem is I too lived too far from SM to go often. In the 90’s Beverly Hills wasn’t to bad, now the traffic is just too brutal. I moved up to Woodland Hills in 2019, which takes longer.

I’m leaving LA, I’m selling my house and am gone. I haven’t been in la in months except a day here and there.

If I’d have went in in the 90’s that would have been my spot after HAC on sunset closed

I got one spot in the valley that’s on par but not better. How strong is that? 🌮🌮

And the people who run it and customers are great!!! It’s my kind of spot.

I’ll be in Van Nuys next week. I’ve got a match scheduled in Ventura but I’ll have a free evening to check out the soccer club. Where to you park?

I played in there before HOB closed down and the tables were kind of poorly maintained- I think they overhauled the tables after HOB closed for the regulars that migrated over there

Thanks all. I appreciate all the suggestions. I'm sort of confined by circumstances to the Financial District so it's good to know I haven't missed anything in my immediate proximity.

There seem to be lots of street level retail vacancy in downtown, maybe an opportunity for a revival. The same thing happened in my home, DC. All the downtown rooms closed as rent went up then the pandemic killed downtown retail and I imagine the land lords would love a pool room as a tenant.

I've often wondered what happened to you.

There is metered parking along the street and then there is a Santa Monica Recreational facility across the street that you can get away parking at.

I haven't been down there for a long time got in a couple of dust ups. I've been going to Burbank but there is zero action there.

The problem with that room is that with only 4 pool tables if your timing is wrong you sit and wait for hours.

After driving all the way over there its a turn off.

The room owner is fantastic super nice guy.
