Either of these guys still playing? Haven't seen their names lately. Just curious. TIA for any info...............

Wow, I remember Brian Groce as one of the ones to beat in the early bank pool ring games at Derby City. Nice guy, too. Haven't seen him for years.

Hope someone has news of him.

I looked Groce up on FB and it looks like he is in advertising/sales related to auto racing. Looks like he still plays at Brickyard Billiards in Indy.

Well i msg'd the 'hall in San Antonio and the owner said Hager works a lot but still plays some action stuff.

older hard core gamblers are either broke or rich and either way dont get to play much pool.
and older players cant win anymore in the games they get. plus when you get older you lose the killer instinct and are not so interested in beating someone.

wow. plumbing the depths of obviousness. props.

The first pool stream I ever watched was Hager Jr Vs Scott Frost in Conyers Georgia on a super tight table.

I believe Hager Jr got the cash...haven't seen him since. That was probably 2008-2009 ish

Speaking of Bartrum....same time frame...CB beating Darren Appleton in a race to 100...CB was getting I believe the 8 or 9 in ten ball.

Amazing to me how many rock solid players in the usa no longer playing any more from pro level to short stop players.

Most people's pool games do not age well. A lot of different reasons but health is usually the biggest. Bad backs, necks, eyes, you name it.

old age slows all down.

bad health makes it worse. and that can be controlled. few do until too late.
bad backs can easily come from getting down on the shaft for so much playing over the years. not a good penalty to have later in life,
when you can play very well more upright.

Wow, you are absolutely right! My mistake. Wonder how Brian Gregg is doing. Not sure I've even met Brian Groce.
I heard Brian Gregg still plays a bit. Heard that last year from a reliable guy. He sure could bank! Wow
