So I had a custom jacoby from 2021 and over time my shaft started coming loose started tightening it before every shot but sometimes it still barely came loose. So I had the pin changed to 3/8 10 used to be radial. 2 years almost and never had the problem but i am again with my z shaft. When i had problem before i used plumber tape. Just trying to see other suggestions.

Sounds like the shaft or butt or both may need to be refaced, I've seen over time where gunk can build up between the facings and cause this issue.

Could be a facing issue, but it could also be threads that's stripped or just worn., or maybe they just where cut with a bit of slop..
Some people tighten the cue like there's no tomorrow, that can cause issues like you are describing.

What do you clean your cue with? Have you ever used wax or silicone on the cue and gotten some on the joint faces? Cue Slick, maybe?

I made a cue that has a joint material I've never used before that does the same thing. There are a few reasons this could happen...and it could be a combination of the two. First, there is not enough friction between the joint faces. Second, the joint material is physically deforming when shooting/breaking and allowing the axial load on the pin to reduce to a point that the pin can turn slightly. Finally, the faces could be off, basically simulating the second scenario.

My guess is that things were waxed or siliconed and the first scenario is the culprit. Impossible to say without seeing.

Or maybe it was the very little bit of vaseline I put when I first got to get on easier that's building up lol. Thanks austin hill. Got some out the joint did better but started again. Going to use a mild gun brush to clean the shaft insert doesnt look like wood.
