There seems to be some damage between the tip and the fiber pad on my revo
Is this a bad install or wrong glue used?

I do not know if the fiber pad needs replacing too, that might be a problem as there are no predator rep near me.

looks like the installer put an additional pad between the pred fiber pad and the tip?
I am not sure if that came with the tip or it was additional pad.
But I wasnt asked to pay for a additional pad, iirc.

That black color layer looks to be flaking or coming apart...

Shouldn't need a new tip yet but that looks like a bad tip or a bad install. Probably a bad install, looks like a bit of the old tip was left on and the installer counted on the glue to soak through it. A tiny sliver looks huge at ten to twenty times magnification.

A bad layer can look similar. The reason I don't like multilayer tips. A single layer is good or bad, a multilayer tip has many chances for a bad layer to sneak in.

There is a red silencer pad that came with the revo above the white line.

The tip was installed above the red silencer pad, i think...

It does looks bad and i kept blaming miscues and misses on this tip

Yes the sliver looks huge enough to bother me.
I remembered the previous triangle tip i put on didnt have this issue.

Also the playing surface of the tip doesn't look right, almost looks glossy. Could be lighting, but doesn't look that way in the pic.

If it bothers you I recommend cutting down to the white pad and a new tip. If the new tip comes with a pad cut to wood. That ragged looking layer can cause a hit to feel not quite honest when you hit the cue ball. Even if it isn't in this case the tip has to go when you don't trust it. Nobody competes at 100% when they don't trust their equipment.

yup, the tip is becoming glossy, i am ok with this as i chalk frequently.
its a G2 medium for whats its worth, it played decent until i saw the damaged area

i think i'll take your advice and just slap on a new tip. i think the red pad needs to stay on though. there's some predator warranty reasons for that.

just hoping its not damaged as i cant find any replacement silencer pad near my area.

Your red silencer pad is ok. They are good down to 10 thousanths.
DO NOT REMOVE THE RED SILENCER!
The black layer next to it comes standard on a lot of tips today but not G2's!

That damaged glue joint needs to go. Get the pad to keep you in warranty but I would cut that bad joint away. Maybe you can do like surgeons now and do your cutting looking at a screen under high magnification? That would be pretty cool. I was turning wooden vessels with a video set-up a few years back. Three X magnification and it appeared I could look through the sidewall of the vessel and see my cutting tip as I cut away the inside of the vessel! Real time video.

You can buy the Silencer pads from Predator. Bag of 10 i believe.
Your repair guy should stock them, if not, ask him too!

thank you !! thats good to know, i remembered you mentioned not to remove the red pad before.

maybe i got a fake G2, which kinda explains the poor layer quality and the glossed up surface.

These Williard nickle and dime shapers do a great job of shaping and keeping your tip clean without roughing them up too much. Not only that they easily store in your case. Honestly though as long as you chalk your tip regurally, I virtually never have to use them.
I also have around some pieces of 3/4" pvc pipe with sandpaper of 180 or 220 grit spray glued to the pvc.
Works really good, just spin your cue on the floor while you slowly slide the pvc forward over the tip. I also use this after installing tips on my cue lathe after rough shaping. Just turn the speed down slow and push the pvc back and forth a couple times. With the pvc you end up with a shape somewhat between a nickle and a dime.

The next option defining the problem is,
Maybe your Installer left part of the old tip on.
People were told to do that so they wouldn't have to replace the silencer pads.
Just a thought

i have a williard tool too, great tool.. i seldom shape my tip. i always feel tips are supposed to be self shaping during play.
But its a great nifty tool to bring along and can fit in any cue case.
