What cues are the pros using these days?

I am not really into all of this but it made me wonder.

When is the last time a major championship was won with a US made "custom" cue, with the original maker's shaft of course. What championship, who was it, and what was the cue? Might be hard info to find, or maybe I just don't know and it is common knowledge.

Mosconi famously did exhibitions with his Bushka, but he didn't play his championships with it.

Miz had many cues, most of them he never used, and famously his "dove" Bushka. But what did he win his major titles with?

Just a couple champions that popped into my mind as I thought about this.

Although I support the sport, I don't really follow pro pool at all and have not since about 1995, so I have no idea what people are using except if it's mentioned in this forum and I bother to read it.

What do I mean by "major championship"? I don't know, at least a national title I guess.

What do I mean by US made custiom" I wouldn't include a Meucci, even if Bob made the cue, I wouldn't include Joss after about 1980 or so, unless we can verify it is a one of a kind custom by Dan Janes himself, which isn't likely. I wouldn't include a "special" version from production maker. I mean a real one at a time, one of each US custom maker, working mostly alone or with an apprentice. Maybe consider that some of them did have small catalogs, and that's OK. But I think to qualify for my question it can't be a Stroud JW catalog cue, a Richard Black catalog cue, etc....has to be a "custom". Again, just example names that come to my mind.

I am not even going to try to research it, but I am curious.

We know a lot of major championship players bought and sold their cues as their fortunes changed. Even after they "made it" they often sold their cues. That's part of the basis of the Glenn collection. I think for most of them most of the time it was just a tool.

Maybe the cue we are talking about (if we can ID it) is actually in the Glenn collection.

just looking at the list .... basically the pros are using the major manufacturers or custom (SPONSORSHIPS $$) .... IT LITERALLY DOESNT MATTER WHAT YOU SHOOT WITH AS LONG AS YOU ARE MAKING BALLS. one manufacturer probably really isnt much better than the other ... Southwest .... you pay 7K for something that isnt worth it. Nostalgia helps make stupid decisions ...

Maybe when Ralf Souquet played with a Joss

Stupid?

If one can afford it, or it's given to you, who cares?

its still not worth it .
Hmm interesting.
I disagree.
You should contact Jay Leno and tell him he's stupid. He has a lot of money in some cars.

I've earned a bit of comfort in life. I can buy what I like to some extent, merely because it pleases me.

I have decided not to make vulgar amounts of money. I work a lot of hours, up to 1/4 of it pro bono. Most of my time outside that is spent volunteering.

I occasionally buy things to please me. I advise others to treat themselves occasionally. The alternative might be a vow of poverty and austere life.

I am pretty confident you provided nput here on a device some would say cost too much and applying you own standards might be stupid.

Likely a Taiwanese player as many of them still use Southwest. Ko Pin Yi won the 2018 China Open (definitely a major) with a Southwest.
