Do old Meucci cues play better than the new Meucci’s?

My favorite Meucci that I got to play with was the SE9, that cue played amazing.
A friend of mine had it and used it as a break cue.... I wish I bought it from him when he sold it.

This is my first Meucci cue I ever had. A Meucci King James cue. Best cue I’ve ever played with. Sterling silver inlay on it, unfortunately it was stolen out of a pool hall in California. I miss this masterpiece with all my heart ❤️

Oh, nice cue. A guy I know picked up a great example of one of those a while back. Beautiful. He took it to the BCA in Vegas and got an offer he couldn’t refuse.

If it's lasted this long, it's likely a good one. Back in the '80s there were two types of players, Meucci guys and McDermott guys. I was the later. I personally saw two Meucci cue forearms shatter, one on a nine ball break, the other on a really hard stroke shot. That said, I saw hundreds of guys with Meucci Originals and they all loved them. I still see a lot of them out there, usually in the hands of guys my age or older. Earl Strickland played with one for a long time. The Gambler and the Road Agent were the most desirable...and man, they had the LONGEST ferrules ever! :)
Don't forget the Joss guys and Scruggs guys!!😉

Man...I was hoping for a good story.
A good story huh? I ran 72 balls straight pool warming up in a crowded bar on a Saturday night by myself, one handed with my bridge hand in my pocket using this cue until 3 people walked in the bar. One rouge player, a girl as a distraction, and one guy with a briefcase handcuffed to his wrist. I kept shooting. The girl came over and slapped the table 3 times and said “my man is here to take all of your money”. I had a G-bar on me. I said “send him on over”. 25 minutes later he still hadn’t screwed together his cue so I walked over and said “what’s up, your girl said you were here to take all my money”. He replied “if that’s you just f’ing around by yourself I can’t break out one hundred dollars of the $50,000 I bought to play you tonight”. I said “then before your girl goes writing checks that you can’t cash, take you, your girl, and your money and get out of our bar”. At that point I was rated in the top 5 one handed pool players known in the USA 🇺🇸
I’m not that good anymore but for 7 years I only played two handed pool 3x…..
I hope this meets your expectations
