Do you have special shoes for shooting pool?

its about time we realize the shoes you wear are the important thing about your pool equipment.
so many worry about the chalk they use or their gloves or heaven forbid the tip.
finally we get to the important thing that makes for a top pool player and that is the shoes you wear.

the color may be important as well.

About 10 years ago Gail and I were tromping around Barcelona and the cava producing region of Spain and I developed a first class case of plantar fasciitis in my right foot... just mentioning it now makes me wince.

Anywhos, I limped into a shoe store in the beach town of Sitges and chose a pair of blue Geox Nebulas. Not only did they help me suffer through my malady, I liked them so much that I started wearing them to play pool, bought a few more in a couple of other colors, and its been my pool footwear since then. Even though they wear pretty good I have had to get a couple of replacement pairs but they are worth it.

Vans have good grip and stability on most floor surfaces if you don’t need a lot of arch support.

I like playing in flat shoes so I wear vans slip ons or chucks when I’m playing pool. I keep an older pair of vans slip ons in my pool room for when I’m playing.

In the 90's / 2000's they did have pool shoes. The market never caught on with these things, they looked like dress shoes.

Today i prefer to wear running shoes with some cushion. The last Major tourament I was in i worn black sneakers

I just wear my pool gloves on my feet.

I use Barebarics barefoot shoes: flat, enough sole and roomy for toes. Good balance is essential so I wouldn’t use anything with rounded sole such as running shoes.

I typically wear 1992 Georgia Boots steel toe engineer boots, or 1995 H&H harness boots. Recently I got new Frye cowboy boots for Father's Day so I played wearing those yesterday. They were excellent.

All my dress shoes are classic US made as well. But I haven't worn dress shoes in nearly 15 years. I wear boots with my suit.

Can't say enough about good US made boots. Get them re-soled as needed.

I own a pair of New Balance, second pair in 30 years. Rarely wear them. Usually if the wife makes me. Still have the first pair as beaters.

Won't be caught dead in sandals or shower shoes (flip flops). I work every day in surgical clogs. They are just comfortable.

I am in search of the perfect shoes for playing pool. At first I was speculating that cross trainers or basketball shoes would be best to keep your stance secure from lateral movement, but I actually think this is a non-issue. Now I think the perfect pool shoe would be one that is super breathable so your feet don't get hot and sweaty during 16 hours of tournament play. I also think they should be super squishy, bouncy, and light to prevent fatigue.

So, I think what I am describing is a running shoe. I have running shoes, but I don't know if I need new running shoes. I mean has anyone ever noticed how the first couple of days or couple of weeks your new shoes feel the most bouncy? Then the shoe inside kind of molds its shape to your foot. This also feels comfortable, but as it conforms in to this different type of comfort, shoes lose the bounce, or maybe I just get use to it and don't notice the response that gives me the feel of walking on clouds. The spring in the step seems to fade away.

Another Idea is to forget searching for a perfect shoe and just get insole inserts, and just replace them frequently. But then that would add weight and lead to fatigue? I'm so confused.

If you have pool shoes that you are in love with please share the brand, model, and why you like them for playing pool. Or if you use inserts, which ones, and how often you need to replace them?

I assume that the most comfortable shoes for playing pool would be Walking Shoes.

Stepped in a puddle with some chemical in it, walked right out of my every day boots. That night I put on a nice new pair of leather dress shoes, nice leather soles. Tile floors where I was playing pool and not once but twicet my feet flew out from under me when I reached my maximum stretch trying to reach a shot. My personal equipment broke my fall both times. A few inch fall doesn't seem like much but when you have all your weight land on two points of contact ... I got home, pulled off one new shoe and hummed it across the room into the garbage can. The second one followed.

Never, ever play pool in footwear with leather soles. If you do a cup is mandatory safety equipment!

left nut in the corner pocket!!!!

I promise I am not kidding here, Crocs.

They are comfortable and lightweight shoes. You can spend hours on concrete with them and your feet don't hurt.

If you're self conscious get a black pair. I wear a mint green pair. It sound funny but I've got several compliments about them. Sorry ladies, I'm married... 😁 I don't care either way, they are comfy.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I also wear socks because if I don't my feet get sweaty.
