Best jump shaft wood or material

Hi everyone!
I'm curious about jump cue shafts and would love to hear your opinions
What type of wood is considered best for making a jump cue shaft? Or carbon fiber generally seen as the superior material these days?

Also, what key characteristics should a good jump shaft have?
- How important is stiffness?
- Should the shaft be lighter or heavier?
- And does cue ball deflection play any significant role when it comes to jump shots?

And also what about butt and whole jump cue construction?
- How much should the butt weigh for an effective jump cue?
- Is a forward-weighted balance noticeably better for jump shots?

Looking forward to your insights — thanks in advance!

For close jumps I prefer a very light cue. Maple shaft with weight added at the ferrule. Longer jumps I often just use my break cue.

Jump shots vary, and so does the optimal setup. That's why you often see 3 piece jump cues, they'll cover a wider range of shots.

I've seen jumpers built built in every configuration. They all work and there is not a one-size-fits-all. The best advice I can give in building any cue is this; build yourself a few. One heavy, one light. One maple, one Purpleheart....etc. Figure out which one suits you best. Let others test them. Get feedback. Apply the new knowledge into another round of testing. You will never waste time or material by learning from trial and error.

Purpleheart is quite popular, but the hit is kinda harsh imo.
If you use quality dense maple and the right taper and tip diameter, I think it works great and it also has a nicer feedback to it.

Thx

My idea is to buy 13.9mm Chinese carbon fiber shaft from Aliexpress, glue Taom 2.0 B/J tip on it and build 4-piece break/jump cue with maple butt, similar to PureX BJ cue. Jump parts intended to be as light as possible, but break extension will be heavy a lil bit

(I believe break cues are biggest fraud in pool history, but if you can put an extension on jump cue, why not?)

So, if there is no right-to-choice wood for jump shaft which is much better than carbon, I will try to build one in described configuration

Thanks for your answers, gentlemen!
