World Pool Championships 2025, July 21-26, Jeddah

Sounds like from the TV side of things, it's been a complete train wreck so far.

well, also the date was announced relatively late, player list appeared like 4-5 days ago, draw was out yesterday, there's no live audience.. so on a whole, MR dropped the ball here. but, it can only get better... sigh

one a side note. i haven't heard all the studio chat with frost and the guys, but i've heard most of it. lots of players to look for to do well, gorst, chua, manas etc. have they said the f word at all? would be kind of silly not to mention the most likely winner

I'm guessing that part of the ball dropping is by the video production company. (I'm pretty sure Matchroom has no camera men, directors, etc.) There are no names or scores on tables two through four. I hope things get better by the second phase.

Scrolling back on a live feed works sometimes but it's fragile. Don't jump around or the video freezes.

Still no video on demand of previous streams. I was late for the early matches today but the stream was up (showing a promo still) and I could scroll back, if careful, until they ended the stream.

MR has many bugs to eliminate, stream wise.

We don't know who is playing or what the score is.

Such a horrible production.

They need to call Collins from Post Up, he is the single greatest one man show commentator and producer there is in the industry.

I got an apologetic email from MR this morning, just a tiny bit premature it seems. They bring up refunds but don't say how to request them. Here's an excerpt from the email: "We did identify the cause of the error and our team worked diligently to implement a fix, this resolved the issue and the service was resumed. At this moment in time, any refund requests will be s reviewed Monday- Friday 9am - 5pm." Shameful, but I am wondering if MR was required to use Saudi production companies and MR is now getting blamed for Saudi screw-ups.

They clearly didn't test anything at all before the live event started. They were too busy partying around eating fried seafood with Jayson Shaw, when they should have been going through dry runs and tests of the streaming platform. IT 101.

This is who the apology email came from, streamamg.com. Matchroom will blame them it looks like.

Table 1 about to go live. It appears to be SVB vs. Rogelio Sotero. Recap right now.

Felix Vogel may be on the YouTube table.

Ralf Souquet vs Tyler Styer on Table 2

Is anyone else getting brief audio drop-outs on Table 1?

They may have fixed the name/score displays.

Except WTF happened to table one with SVB vs Rogelio? It is now Chua vs someone.

Good luck getting pool fans en masse to travel to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. In the middle of Summer. You couldn't even pay me enough to go there.
Almost all MR events draw most live audience members from host nations. Last year the turnout improved as the week went on, but it’s just not going to be a lively atmosphere. The players know what is at stake though. That $250,000 prize has their attention.

Filler was mentioned by Boyes, for sure, and one of the play-by guys as being the best in the world.
