Are Gold Crown Tables Still Being "Diamondized?"

I know this has been debated over the years. Just wondering if owners of Gold Crown tables are still doing it? Or is it a past issue by now?

And if they are being diamondized, what exactly is being done to them?

The reason I am asking is because I simply don't like the way my Gold Crown IV plays. Can't explain it. It just seems to play bad.

Plenty of info in this thread:

GC cushions can be changed but not the pocket shelves. Diamond shelves are deeper. And the height and shape of the rails are different. I tried it. It's a GC3 with Diamond rails :-)
If you want a Diamond buy a Diamond.

Its not "Diamondizing" on GCI and GCII models. Its correcting the sub-rail angle so you can use currently available cushions without changing the size of the playing area and tightening up the pockets along with correcting the corner miters. I had my GCI done many years, still extremely happy with the way it plays. The shallower pocket shelves are nice because they were way too deep in OEM configuration. When the corners were over 5" there were times that the cue ball could not reach the object ball going rail first. First time I saw that happen I spent like an hour looking at the shot and playing it, I just couldn't believe that an object ball could be in the jaws and the cue ball could not reach it.

This.. nothing wrong with the way a gold crown plays butttt it is a lot easier and cheaper to find an old gold crown and change the pockets then it is to buy a diamond. Some people don’t have unlimited funds lol

GCs play great. My GC4 was awesome but I sold it when I moved and bought a Diamond at our new place.
Not sure how it happened but the new Diamond plays nearly identical to the GC.
It even banks the same which is a new one to me. No adjustment whatsoever.
Maybe you need new/different rubber on the rails.

Be careful here, you're gonna wake up all the anti-diamond loonies. I agree with you. Yes Virginia, Diamond's DO play different(wow. whatta fkng surprise) but the adjustment(s) needed are miniscule. Place i go to has GC4's/9'ProAm(red)/9'Pro(red) and 7'D bb's(red). Yeah they all play different but nothing like what some on here would lead you to believe. If you can play a lick you should be able to figure a table out pretty quick.
