3 things you would change about pool

1 - Make all new cloth play like broken in cloth. Very few people enjoy the first week of new cloth and it's really a different game

2 - Alternate break for everything. To come in line with all major sports, closer matches, increase fairness and to reduce overall importance of the break shot and reward overall ability more

3 - 4 inch pockets as maximum size for all professional play and 4.5 standard for amateur. Misses create pressure and excitement

Honorable mention to using chess clocks to manage match times and slow play. Ie each player starts with 30 mins and add 30 secs every time the players swap chairs. Better than a shot clock and can be run without a ref

What about your 3?

1. Make slow players take up pinochle.
2. Make bar boxes disappear and never return.
3. Make my game as good as I've deluded myself into thinking it is.😂

Just this for starters.

Without this, the motivation and mainstream appeal, will always lag.

ETA: $hit! Billiards doesn’t even make the Ocho FFS!

I wouldn't make 4 inch pockets a standard for anything. One important part of pool is cheating the pocket for position play. You can't do that with 4 inch pockets. If you're not good at cheating the pocket, you're not good at the whole game. 4.5 at least.
How do pros still run out on 4 inch pockets then?

I know what you mean but for discussion's sake, the majors all happen on consistent and pristine equipment. This alone amplifies the slop factor. Pocket speed as well as size is well into the "straight shooting zone". This plus the outs they do take are usually dead ones. Those that are able to get in line quickly get out no problem.

On GC's, that was a big part of my shape. Did it unconsciously. And then I played on a diamond. Can't cheat em as much. Gotta clean it up.

No jump cues.
No commentators that have never played pool.
No "house rules" that go against BCA rules.
No entry into a tournament after the draw.
No handicaps...take your skirt off and play even.
No referees that have zero knowledge of pool rules.
Couldn't hold it to 3.
