Skogs got me goin' on player heights. Sooooooo

Then I remembered Nick Varner having Long arms.
Huge advantage being 6' give/take and having 36'' arms, 60% of your body is on the bed :).

Any players around 6' or less with long arms that you know?
Called em knuckle draggers at one time. :)

I don't see a whole lot of odd-shaped humans shooting pool in general. I chalk it up to if you're not comfortable on the table, you're not gonna ever shoot well, and if you're never shooting well, you'll never play.

I have a buddy whose build like a spaghetti noodle, about 6'5 with arms that could make a T-Rex jealous. He tried shooting pool once or twice, then realized nothing was comfortable about bending down to a pool table with a 58" cue and having to do that for hours. I tried showing him some stances for tall people, but didn't really help him in the short run.

I am 6'3" and am right on the cusp of being uncomfortable. It took a lot of work and determination to find a rock solid stance and stroke that was also comfortable that I could replicate time and time again. At the end of long sessions, my knees shake because my stance requires me to bend way more than the average joe at the knees. The whole locking my back leg and leaning forward thing never ever worked for me.

As much as an advantage being "tall" seems on a pool table, it almost never outweighs how uncomfortable it can be, while being a tall dude. Especially if you have a bad back.

When going into a shot, there are muscle groups responsible for stabilising the body on stroke.
Yoga, fitness, running, cycling, swimming, ... whatever works for you would be my answer. I have 194cm and i dont have problems so far, but i try to stay fit.
Have short legs for a long torso, with medium reach.

overall, size is no advantage in pool.

good acumen and analytical skills propel you to the top. after you acquired shooting skills.

Maha, length is an advantage, rarely do I ever us an extension/Bridge, also able to play closer shape on balls that others can't reach.

you dont think there are any disadvantages in pool to being real tall, bill?
might they cancel out that you can reach more shots.

Its funny, you say 194cm but since we use the imperial system I have no idea if that is tall or short, about all I can make of that is its more than 193 and less than 195.:oops::D:D

People with long arms I think have advantage over people with Short Arms. People are all different, those with passion to be good at a nothing Practice, Improvise, Adapt, and Overcome.

Maybe it's just me, but my height has been an advantage for me my entire life.

It's give and take.

I've always been into cars and racing, guess what a 6'3" dude doesn't fit in? Pretty much every fun sports car ever built.

Airplanes? Ha... I don't fly anymore.

Movie theaters / ball games sporting events in general? Yeah, I love my knees jammed into a seat 1ft in front of me.

Yeah, I can reach to get something off the top shelf at the store, but I ain't going to act like that's been more helpful than literally being able to fit in normal spaces and not smash my head walking in basements or generally anywhere confined.

Have you ever tried widening your stance another 2'?

It made it easier for me to deal w fellow homo sapiens'. That's the hard part, for me. I can tolerate being uncomfortable for awhile. If I don't fit in something, if I want it bad enough, I'll build something I can fit in, avoid those I can't. A myriad of things in this world that fit. I'll gravitate toward those. Doubt if I'll miss the others enjoying myself elsewhere.
