Aramith Duramith balls getting dirty quicker than others?

I've been playing with Aramith Premiers for 2 years now and recently pick up a set of Aramith Duramith Tournament Pros. I've been playing with them for a month now and they are dirtier than my Premiers were after 2 years.

They clean up just fine but what gives?

Anyone else experiencing this? Any idea what's going on?

Did you buy them new (unopened box) or used? Are you sure you actually got what you think you bought?

Unless the red measles ball is yellow, I don't think it has the Duramith coating. Here's what Aramith says about the red measles ball:

Made out of the most advanced Aramith Pro-Cup phenolic resin

No mention of Duramith. I've searched around, and I can't find anywhere that says that some red measles balls are Duramith and some aren't, but I've seen red measles balls that are white and I've seen red measles balls that are yellow. The yellow tint is supposedly a sign of the Duramith coating.

It only takes me a few sessions on Diamond tables to get black marks on Aramith Tournament balls. What tables are you playing on?

There’s a thread somewhere discussing possible causes for those perfectly round grey spots. The dark OB spots are probably something from the table. The CB dark spots looks like possible miscues.

Would be interesting to know the age of this set and if they were stored away in a box for an extended period.

And how are the balls being cleaned, and with what.

Duramith is NOT a coating. Its a different resin mix/curing process that yields a harder surface. The only measel cb that is D'mith is the black dot Tournament ball. The red ones are SAP resin mix. Yellowing has nothing to with Duramith.

Yep, agree. Diamonds have a tendency to mark ball when new. Something to do with the pocket liner. The op's balls look fine to me, just need a quik run thru a cleaner. I don't know what he's complaining about.
I hear that a lot about Diamond pockets. I'm fortunate in that I have yet to notice any pocket ball marks in the 5 years that I have had my Professional. I'm not sure if it matters, but I did, within weeks after getting my table, slip some 1/8" craft foam behind the pocket liners to help deaden the sound. I have never cleaned them, just vacuumed out the inside for dust.

Looking at the picture of the balls racked, I see a lot of collision marks. That usually is caused by too much cleaning solution. I get none of that on my Duramith tournaments, and Aramith Premiums cleaned with two drops of Aramith cleaner diluted 20% per 8 balls. When I first used Aramith cleaner, I got spots like that, but used more cleaner, I think about 4 undiluted drops of Aramith per 8 balls. After cutting back the amount of cleaner, those collision spots went away. Sometimes now I only use 1 drop per 8 balls and they come out just as clean.

The red marks on the cue ball are obviously red chalk marks. The spots on the balls appear to be from pocket liners. What kind of table are you playing on and what are the pocket liners made from? What do you use to clean the balls?

I use Aramith Prestige balls, $250 for a set of three, best balls you can buy, with Predator Pure Chalk, hard (green). I still sometimes get a chalk mark that sticks to the cue ball. Though it happens much more frequently with Masters chalk. You can easily hear the ball micro-jump if it rolls over a chalk mark on the surface.

So even with the best equipment the balls get dirty. I clean them almost every time I use them. Cleaning them every week is what I would expect for pool balls.

Brunswick Manhattan but rails were replaced years ago w/ Adler rails. Have #6 pockets now, black leather wrapped irons and I think I treated the leather about 6 months ago.(That could causing the black marks). Simonis 860 cloth, Silver Cup chalk, Rhino F1 Crystal Cue Tip.

I've been using Aramith Ball Restorer. I have the Aramith Ball Cleaner but have not used that yet. When I clean, I use a lot more than 2 drops. (That may be an issue). Maybe I should be using the cleaner instead.

Thanks, it seems like the issues may be too much cleaner, possible using Restorer instead of Cleaner, the pocket liners, miscuing and of course, the red cloth!
