Which is BEST cuecase? Whitten? Laara? Phi eastwood? Rusty Melton? Jill Hawk? Or?

Yup.

Back around 1990 I was in a high speed car accident on a highway. My chemistry professor was in the same accident, we were both on the way to the university that morning. My car was totaled and I was taken to the hospital. My Joss was in the back seat in a Fellini case. My car was taken to the wrecker yard, I went to see it. No cue.

Later, maybe a week, I was back at school and went to my professor's office. He said he saw the case, didn't know what it was, but it looked important, so he took it and kept it for me. He pulled it out from under his desk. I was stunned, and elated of course. I showed him what was in it. He had heard I played pool with one of the biology professors but he was still surprised. He had not opened it and had no idea what was in that case.

The cue and case were fine. Same cue and case I have today.
You almost got buried with your Joss.

For protection?

DanBuilt cases are pretty darn good. The most protection you can get is an ATA road case.

You can have one made to your specs by an ATA road case maker. Yes I have one. No, never took it to a pool hall. LOL!

EDIT: This is my ATA cue case.

Phil Eastwood sits at a different table than the others you mentioned. He is a fantastic cue case builder and the most artistic of any others you mentioned. Phil is on the top rung of the cue case makers ladder looking down not up like other makers.
Artistically, I put LAARA up there with Eastwood. But she doesn’t build the cases, so she isnt considered a case maker.

For protection, I’m going with JB.

How are Engles cases? Started to look into them earlier this year but got sidetracked. Looking for a nice 1x2.

Have a beautiful 3x5 Whitten but want one smaller.
As the person that reintroduced them, I have quite a few at great pricing. They are not made with pockets or straps.

Cool!

I didn't know you had any left!

I just went and looked. You have a nice selection available including Engles, GTF, It's George, and box cases from O'Neil and Palmer. 👍 👍 👍

Folks, he has some nice cases for sale.

I have a nice pair of O'Neil's can be had on the cheap :)

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but I have watched a number of the videos from ICCS this year. I saw really nothing about the cases the collectors and makers used to transport their cues. I really am curious. I almost made it there this year.

I would have loved to see something about how all those beautiful and valuable cues were transported.

I know, it's about the cues, but this is a practical matter, and I think others would be interested.

Ernie Gutierrez ships his cues in a whitten. Ill go with his choice for protection.
For looks I like my Jack Justice.
I would like to get a JB but when I last tried to order he seemed very busy. Haven't tried again.
Currently using this 2x4 for playing...I like it but forget who made it.

Looks like a GTF, by Barton.

Nice cases. I still don't have one in my collection.

Back around 1992 I left an expensive (now very collectible) Benchmade butterfly knife in the console of a rental car. I did not get that back. I called the same afternoon after I dropped the car off and they said nobody found it. I bought another one and still have it. Carried it for many years.

Bought a JB Ultimate Rugged, and never looked back. I posted a review here after it took a skid down the highway off the luggage rack of my motorcycle. It's a good case.
