Funny pic/gif thread...

What a cool album cover!

Gotta admit I’ve never heard this. Listened to the first track and know what rabbit hole I’ll be crawling into this evening.

Check this out per the Spotify band bio:

The album's concept revolved around a diary that had been found in a repossessed car by Ward (he held a day job as an occasional repo-man.) The unknown author of the diary appeared to be a grown adopted child searching for their birth parents; he may also have suffered from mental illness caused by the death of a loved one. The lyrics for each track on the album are loosely based on characters and life events described in this person's diary. Rodríguez-López composed the instrumental parts; he also arranged and produced the sessions. He employed a studio technique credited to Miles Davis: He refused to let the other members hear one another's recorded parts, or even the musical context of their own part, and instead had them play to a metronome. His bandmates were forced to perform each individual segment as if it were a self-contained song.

What rabbit hole is straight forward? I dunno, don’t dig’em just get lost in ‘em.

Always geek out with my guitar crazed nephew at family functions. Tonight he shared a band called Magma.

The lyrics are in their own language they created called “zool”. He showed me the liner notes of the album and said he couldn’t understand them if he wanted to because they were written in French. Look for the album that has three versions, but the best one will have a “MDK” distinguishing mark in the title.

Said the way to enjoy it was to just think of them as a band that makes instrumentals and happens to have lyrics, but the lyrics are just instruments meaningless beyond being notes in the different themes, riffs, and grooves.

Freaking love that kid!

Uh, to fully misconstrue this...:ROFLMAO:
Do tell. First album came out in 69, so imagine a world where you heard this and Zeppelin I together for the first time. Black Mountainside and then….

Misconstrue… misheard lyrics. That’s always fun to pluck meaning from nothing based on personal perspective. “Scuse me while I kiss this guy” or “There’s a bathroom on the right.”

I have definitely been hearing words listening to the songs. I think it’s natural for our minds to try and make sense and create some order out of what may be? Even if it’s just Jibber jabber

Eh. Anyway, I know this is supposed to be a funny pic thread, so don’t want to monopolize. Gonna step away.

Party on!

I had that trouble with CCR lol. Clear as day now. Probably the cheap audio of the time.

I mock foreign languages for cheap laughs but these guys are next level. The era does explain the simple riffs with the jazz elements. Some of the chorus type vocals are definitely educated stuff though. There's a whole live set on their channel.
